Chapter 2Sarah The first thing I noticed when I peeked through the velvet stage curtain was Amber, sitting in the audience. Even though I wasn’t expecting her, it’s impossible for me not to notice her. She always stands out, and tonight is no different. She’s sitting on a lime green chair that couldn’t further contrast her outfit: an oversized, mustard-colored sweater with a faded band logo on it—probably from a thrift store in the city. It’s a bit slouchy, with the sleeves rolled up to reveal the several silver bracelets on her wrists. Her jeans are high-waisted and slightly ripped at the knees, giving her that I don’t care, but I totally do vibe. On her feet are chunky, worn-in black boots that have seen better days, and the black bucket hat on top of her head makes her look even cuter.
