I was still holding Hayden’s dying body in my arms when Kai reached us. Hayden looked at me and I saw when the light left his eyes. Kai takes him from me and checks if he is still alive, and is frantically trying to stop the bleeding. “He is gone,” I whisper and fall down to my knees as Callie whimpers in my mind. I feel pain and sadness in my heart, but I have to be there for Kai right now.
“No, it can't be,” Kai whispers and checks for a pulse. I crawled over to him and held him as he held his brother’s lifeless body. “I am sorry, Kai, but he is gone. We need to deal with Franco and help your mom. And we also need to find Cruz. Please don't fall apart on me now.” I say through the sadness I am feeling.
