The Central Bank of Korea stood like a monolith of granite and glass in the heart of the financial district. It was a temple of old money, a place where the air always felt five degrees colder and the silence was enforced by men in earpieces who didn't know how to smile.
At 8:55 AM, a black Mercedes-Maybach pulled up to the curb.
Gabriella stepped out first. She was a vision of lethal corporate elegance. She had discarded the oversized hoodie for a tailored, cream-colored Dior power suit. Her hair was pulled into a low, glass-smooth ponytail, and her eyes were hidden behind dark Chanel sunglasses. On her finger, the silver Sovereign ring caught the morning light—a secret weapon hidden in plain sight.
Behind her walked Yoongi. He had traded his leather for a charcoal-grey suit, though he refused to wear a tie. With his dark hair pushed back and his hands in his pockets, he looked like a young tech billionaire with a dangerous edge. He was her "security detail," but to anyone who knew the underground, he was the shadow waiting to strike.
"Remember," Gabriella whispered as they approached the revolving doors. "I am the daughter of Arthur Harvey. I am here on a routine matter of estate management. You are my silent partner. If I stop talking, it means the warrant has hit their system and we have exactly sixty seconds to get out."
"I’ve got the bypass ready," Yoongi murmured back, his hand brushing the encrypted key-fob in his pocket—a device Taehyung had spent all night perfecting. "Just get us into the sub-level. I’ll handle the digital locks."
The Lion’s Den
The lobby was a cathedral of marble. Their footsteps echoed with a rhythmic, hollow sound that made Gabriella’s skin crawl. They approached the private wealth desk, where a man with silver hair and a gold nameplate—Director Kang—looked up.
"Ms. Harvey," Kang said, his voice a practiced purr of subservience. "We saw the news this morning. A tragic misunderstanding, I’m sure. How can the bank assist you during this... difficult time?"
"My father is currently indisposed with the Independent Prosecutor," Gabriella said, her voice a perfect imitation of her father’s cold authority. She didn't blink. She didn't falter. "He’s requested that I secure the physical backups from his private vault. There was a security breach at the firm, and we cannot risk the digital integrity of the Harvey estate."
Director Kang hesitated. Gabriella felt the air in her lungs turn to lead. This was the moment. If her father had reached the bank's board from his holding cell, it was over.
"Of course," Kang said finally, standing up. "The Power of Attorney on file for you is 'Durational and Irrevocable.' As long as the primary account holder is incapacitated, you have full access. Please, follow me."
They were led through a series of biometric gates. Each one hissed as it opened, a sound that felt like a trap snapping shut behind them. They descended three floors underground into the "Deep Vault"—a place where the cell signal died and the walls were reinforced with three feet of lead-lined steel.
Inside the Deep Vault
The room was filled with rows of stainless steel boxes. It felt like a morgue for secrets.
Kang led them to Box 909. He inserted his master key, and Gabriella inserted the secondary key she had taken from her father’s study weeks ago. With a heavy clunk, the box slid forward.
Inside were three matte-black hard drives and a thick, wax-sealed envelope.
"I’ll leave you to your audit, Ms. Harvey," Kang said, bowing slightly. "The security cameras are disabled inside the private viewing rooms for client confidentiality. Press the buzzer when you are finished."
The moment the heavy door clicked shut, the professional mask dropped.
Yoongi moved instantly. He pulled a portable deck from his inner jacket pocket and connected it to the first hard drive. "Taehyung, you in?" he whispered into a tiny mic on his lapel.
"I’m through the bank’s internal firewall," Taehyung’s voice crackled in their earpieces. "But Gabriella, you were right. The Prosecutor just filed the emergency freeze. It’s hitting the bank’s mainframe now. You have four minutes before the vault door locks automatically for 'Security Protocol 4'."
"Download it, Yoongi! Now!" Gabriella hissed.
"I can't just download it," Yoongi muttered, his fingers flying across the deck. "These drives are booby-trapped with a 'Wipe-on-Removal' script. If I pull them out, the data vanishes. I have to mirror the drive and ghost the signature."
The progress bar on the screen was agonizingly slow.
10%... 25%...
Gabriella paced the small, windowless room. Her mind was racing through the legal repercussions. If they were caught now, it wasn't just a civil dispute. It was a felony. She would lose her chance to ever practice law again. She would be a Sovereign—but she would be a Sovereign in a cage.
50%...
Suddenly, the red light above the door began to pulse. A low, rhythmic alarm began to echo through the vents.
"They’ve found the anomaly!" Namjoon’s voice cut through the comms. "The Prosecutor is on the phone with the Bank President. Security is heading for the elevators. Yoongi, get her out of there!"
"Not without the files," Yoongi growled.
"Yoongi, we have to go!" Gabriella grabbed his arm. "If they find you here with that deck, they’ll tie the Sovereigns to the data leak. It will ruin everything we’ve built!"
"I’m not leaving the evidence that can put your father away for life," Yoongi said, his eyes fixed on the screen. 85%... 90%...
The sound of heavy boots echoed in the hallway outside. The handle of the vault door rattled.
"Open up! Security! Step away from the box!"
99%... 100%.
Yoongi ripped the deck out and shoved it into Gabriella’s hand. "Hide it. Now."
He grabbed the matte-black drives and threw them into the paper shredder in the corner of the room—a high-speed industrial machine for disposing of sensitive documents.
"What are you doing?!" Gabriella gasped.
"Destroying the evidence of the heist," Yoongi said, his smirk returning as the machine whirred, turning the drives into plastic confetti.
The door burst open. Four armed guards rushed in, their weapons drawn. Behind them, Director Kang looked pale and panicked.
"Ms. Harvey! Stop what you are doing!"
Gabriella turned, her face a mask of insulted nobility. She held up the empty wax-sealed envelope.
"Director Kang, what is the meaning of this?" she demanded, her voice vibrating with feigned outrage. "I came here to secure my family’s records, and your alarm system nearly gave me a heart attack. And look! Your shredder malfunctioned when I tried to dispose of my father’s old tax returns!"
The guards looked at the pile of shredded plastic, then at the empty box.
"We received an order to freeze the account," Kang stammered. "You... you weren't supposed to be in here."
"The order hit at 9:08 AM," Gabriella said, checking her watch with icy precision. "I entered the vault at 9:02 AM. Everything I have done is within the window of legality. If you touch me, or my associate, I will have your bank’s charter revoked for harassment of a legal heir."
The Escape
They walked out of the bank ten minutes later. The police were arriving, but there was nothing for them to find. The drives were dust, and the data was sitting in a tiny, encrypted chip tucked into the lining of Gabriella’s blazer.
As they reached the Maybach, Yoongi finally let out the breath he’d been holding. He leaned against the car, looking at Gabriella with a mixture of shock and awe.
"You really are your father’s daughter," he said, shaking his head. "That was the coldest, most brilliant thing I’ve ever seen."
"No," Gabriella said, her eyes turning soft as she looked at him. "My father would have left you in there to take the fall. I did it because we’re a team."
She climbed into the car, the weight of the secrets on her chest feeling lighter than ever.
"Now," she said to Jungkook in the driver's seat. "Let’s go home. We have an empire to build."
