The three of us headed to Pepper’s through the portal door. Gwen fidgeted the whole way, the scent of her anxiety cloying. We all stepped through the door, into Pepper’s living room. Gwen held my arm, leaning on me. She wobbled, her face a tint of green. All I really wanted was to take her home, and shut the world out, keeping her to myself.
