The glass shattered on the floor as Alpha Gallian threw it away in anger.
"What do you mean the rogues?!" He bellowed.
I reached out. My hands are trembling as I cleaned up the broken pieces. The team he had sent to investigate has not returned. The pack has been losing men because of an unknown cause.
"Darling, calm your anger." The Luna held Alpha's hand. I could see him calming down in an instant. Is that the mate bond working their magic?
"Girl, hurry up!"
I flinched at the sound of her voice. I hastily grabbed the remaining pieces. I winced when a piece of glass pierced my skin. I paid it no mind and hurriedly retreated back to my position.
Cole came in. His loud footsteps echoed.
"Father," he started.
The Alpha dismissed the information, and turned his attention to his son. His angry demeanor was now calm.
"The prince requests an audience," he informed him.
There was a pause. Then the Alpha boomed with laughter.
"Let him in."
The door opened, revealing two gorgeous men. A familiar figure started marching towards Alpha's throne. As he walked by, our eyes met, and I felt a sudden rush of anger and embarrassment, along with dread.
"Greetings to the Golden Alpha of Atraxia." The man beside the prince bowed.
"I wouldn't have thought that my dear nephew would personally give me a visit!" The Alpha laughed.
"Servants, please see to our guests with the utmost hospitality!" He commanded.
By his command, every servant present in the room instantly went for tables and chairs for the men. I dropped the broken glass on the trash and grabbed a drink and a pair of glasses.
I stood at the side of the table. I gently poured the drink into their glasses, careful not to meet his gaze, because I could tell that he was staring at me.
"Thank you for your hospitality, Alpha." The man beside him said.
I took a step back, keeping in mind not to retreat too much in case they asked for another drink.
"If only you had sent your letter with this intent, I would have thrown you a feast the moment you arrived." Alpha Gallian laughed.
"We are grateful, Alpha. But to my prince, this is enough. We do not dare to cause you trouble." The man beside him replied.
I find it strange. He doesn't say anything, despite being the prince and nephew of the Alpha. I watched as he took a sip out of the cup. Was it me, or was he being too casual?
" Nonsense! " The Luna said." We are family yet we rarely see each other. A feast is only but a trivial celebration, yet it allows us to reconnect with each other."
I'm stunned. The Luna can actually express soft emotions. I thought that she was always angry, especially with the servants.
" Luna Claire, your words are still as beautiful as yourself. The prince is touched, and because of that, we shall have one on His Highness's next visit." The man smiled.
I must admit, you look as gorgeous as that prince beside him. Maybe he's the real prince. He has auburn hair, almost the same hue as mine, and his a deep pair of emerald-colored eyes. The man caught my eyes and smiled at me. I blinked. I could feel my cheeks blushing.
"That is good to hear! I shall personally plan the event!" The Luna clapped her hands in excitement.
She looks excited, and I have never seen her so. The Alpha and the Luna are both acting too generous towards the prince. Maybe because he's a prince? What kind of a prince is he?
I have no detailed knowledge of the other lands or packs. However, I have read from books that there are six lands, one of which is inhabited, and the five which are ruled by strong alphas.
"Nephew, how are your negotiations with my son?" Alpha Gallian asked.
I caught a glimpse of the prince, smiling as he causally drank. He dropped his cup and smiled at the Alpha.
"His Highness wishes to explore the possibilities of this new offer." The man beside the prince replied.
"Young man, I applaud you. However, who are you? You have been speaking where you ought not to."
I stiffened. I felt the threatening pressure of the Alpha. I can only assume that he was irritated by that man because he kept answering questions directed at the prince.
"I am but His Highness' humble servant. I do not deserve to be known. However, it is my duty to relay the words of my master." He courtesed.
I would applaud this man as well. Every servant, including myself, is trembling already, yet he doesn't seem to be phased. I saw the prince signal for me to refill his cup. I gulped and walked towards him, slowly filling his cup. He looked at me and smiled, his lips swollen and his face red. I immediately retreated, dread cursing in my veins.
"This is an agreement between two lands. Can't my nephew be bothered to say a word?" Alpha said.
"I'm afraid so, Alpha. His Highness only speaks to those who are worthy." The man replied.
The Alpha stood up. The stomping of his foot resonated throughout the room. It was enough to send all the servants cowering in fear. I instinctly gripped the tray tighter as I remained fixed on my station.
" Come now, darling. I'm sure that the prince has reasons. Look at him. He has a cut on his lips and his left cheek is swollen and red. I doubt your nephew could speak." The Luna assisted Alpha Gallian back to his seat.
"Are you okay, His Highness?" She asked.
"It is from a mishap, Luna. We appreciate your concern." The man replied.
I trembled in fear as I listened to their discussion. Regret is flooding my system. I actually had that mishap. When I realized his lips were on mine, moving and warm, I instinctively bit him and shoved him away. He was bleeding when I did that. And because I was overwhelmed, I slapped him and jumped from the terrace. It wasn't my intention, but I was overwhelmed with anger, embarrassment, and a warm and fuzzy feeling in my chest that I wasn't able to think straight. I wasn't expecting that it was the prince that I slapped.
"As for the agreement, my prince asked for one condition."
The Alpha looks like he no longer wanted to talk. But everyone listened and waited for his next words.
"We wish to bring a servant back to the Capital. There will be no other options. "
The servants gasped, and both the alpha and the luna looked confused. I started sweating profusely with fear looming over my thoughts.
"For what reasons might that be?" The Luna asked, determined to seal the deal with the prince.
The man remained quiet and the prince just enjoyed himself with the drink. They don't give them options to refute. The Luna cleared her throat.
"Well then, we have strong servants here that could suit His Highness' liking." She claimed. "Bring me our strongest servants!"
"That would be unnecessary." The man intervened.
"Pardon?" The Luna stopped and looked at the prince.
"His Highness chose this girl."
I felt like the world started spinning when all eyes fell on me. The Luna looked at me with bewilderment and hate. Maybe she's wondering how someone as insignificant as me was able to catch the eye of the prince. It wasn't in normal ways.
I internally cried. I am already thankful for my life here, despite the discrimination and hostility towards me. I like living here, and now someone just the Luna the reason to kick me out of the pack.
"I do not understand." The Luna croaked. "What can she offer you?"
"Give her to me, or the deals off, said His Highness." The man replied.
The Luna remained quiet. She looked back at the Alpha, who's face was livid with fury. I heard Cole whispering to the couple. The Luna sighed, along with the Alpha.
"She will be removed from the pack. You have my word." The Alpha declared.
Suddenly, I felt anger rush into me. This situation is so unfair. I felt like an object being traded off.
"Alpha, with due respect. I do not wish to leave the pack," I said.
I ignored the pang of fear pricking my heart and stepped forward. The alpha's eyes fell on me.
"Take her away!" he commanded.
Wolf guards apprehended me, grabbing my arms by force. Anger filled my system. I was disgusted by the touch of the guards.
"Don't touch me!" I threatened and shoved them away.
"Alpha, I am not an object that could be used and discarded. I beg you to reconsider!" I pleaded.
The Alpha remained quiet and signaled the guards to apprehend me again. I looked at him and realized he didn't care. No one of them actually truly cared about me. The guards strongly grabbed my arms again, enough for me to wince in pain. I growled.
I feel violated. Betrayed. I did everything to belong. I endured the hostility and discrimination because I believe you saved me. Because I thought I shouldn't ask for more because saving me is enough. But I can see it now. No one wants me to be here. It was only Kira who cared.
The guards tried to pull me away but I remained standing on my feet. I would repay Kira someday in my own way.
"Let me go," I threatened.
I glared at the guard. His face contorted into anger. He raised his hand, and I could tell that he would hit me, but I was too angry to fear.
I screamed and twisted my body. The guards holding me fled a few inches away. I was shocked. I have a weak body and I don't have a wolf, but I wasn't expecting them to be thrown away that far. My body feels so hot that it is making me lightheaded. I feel like I can take down a man with one punch, and my chest feels tight like it was about to burst.
"Don't you dare touch me." I growled.
I start to see red, and my body grows hotter and hotter by the second. My hearing starts to ring, making muffled sounds.
A guard charged at me, and I instinctively dodged and kicked the guard on the shin, making him kneel. My hand reached out to his throat.
My body felt numb and I felt like I was moving without any thought. I feel so angry that I can no longer see but red, and my heart is throbbing so fast. I heard a choking sound, and felt something or rather someone squirming under my touch, clawing my arms. Then the scent of musk and vanilla filled my nose.
Suddenly, I felt someone hugging me from behind. His hands gently slid over to cover my eyes. His breath tickled my ear.
"Sol."
My mind went blank and everything turned black.
