The Moon Stone Guardian

Chapter 9

I woke up too. Atlas slid out of my bed so he wouldn't wake me up, or so he thought. He looked at me and smiled and said to me, "Get up and get ready, your father has been asking for you all morning. I will also tell you what the council's plans are for Seth." I hurriedly got dressed and left with Atlas to go see my father in his bedroom. When I got to my father's bedroom, I quietly knocked on the door and when my mother answered she pulled me in for a hug. It was tight. I could hardly breathe . "Mom, you're smothering me," I said, trying not to laugh. She finally let me go and opened the door fully to allow me and Atlas to enter their bedroom. "Father, I am so glad you are alright." I said as I walked up to his bed. He turned to face me and still looked like he didn't feel well. I reached for his hand and he tried to squeeze it but was still a little weak. He looked at me and smiled at me. I leaned over him and kissed his cheek and smiled back at him. He tried to talk but was too weak and Atlas suggested to my father to let him move forward so we could talk easier and he did, but his wolf was still a little weak from all the healing he had to do, but he was strong enough to talk to us. Atlas said to all of us, "I spoke to the council last night while you were all resting and they said that we have the right to punish Seth for his betrayal. That they wouldn't intervene with us and that they would back us on the punishment we chose for him. Also, they told me that they want Kara to run the pack temporarily till you are at your full strength, Alpha Drake. I hope you are okay with that and don't worry. I will be here till you are recovered as well and help Kara with your pack as well." My father's eyes went, black again as Apollo, my father's wolf came forward and said, "I will agree with you that she does need to learn, so she can be a great Luna for you Alpha Atlas." "I have no doubt that she will be a great Luna Alpha Apollo." Atlas said showing respect to my father's wolf. "But I can not understand why Seth would want to do something like this to us. He is only a warrior with no rank, but he has only been with our pack for a year so that could have had something to do with it." Apollo stated. "Don't worry about that now." I said "father needs to rest, we should go so he could get some sleep and Apollo as well, I know that this is taking a lot of energy for both of them." Apollo looked at and gave me a nod as he agreed with me. I gave my father another kiss on the cheek and hugged my mom and left the room. Now the hardest part begins by deciding what to do with Seth.

I was in my bed sleeping. As I slept, I felt myself drift away from myself. My wolf, Apollo, was too calm for my liking as I felt myself being carried away, as if he knew where we were going. "Apollo, what's going on?" I asked. All he could say was "She is calling us and we can not fight her calling." So I didn't resist as he said. I let the pull take me. When the feeling finally stopped, Apollo said, " Open your eyes, we are here." I opened my eyes and I saw a beautiful woman standing by a breathing lake and a mountain range, but I saw the range before I knew I had. Then I realized what I was seeing. This is the mountain range that is in my pack's territory. "But what am I doing here/" I asked Apollo. He didn't answer my question, but all he said was, ""we mustn't keep her waiting and pulled me forward. As I continued to walk, I saw a beautiful woman dressed in a flowing white gown. Her hair was as blue as the moon and her aura showed as brightly as the moon itself. She looked absolutely stunning in the moonlight. As I walked closer to her, Apollo began to purr as if I couldn't contain him. He took over and started running towards Selene. "MOTHER", Apollo yelled as he got closer. "Apollo, my son, so good to see you, but can you please give Atlas back control so I can talk to both of you. Because you know that I can talk to your human half and you at the same time, I need Atlas." Apollo did as he was told and gave me back control. "I am so sorry, Goddess, I have no idea what had gotten into him." I said. She looked at me and smiled and said,"It's OK, my child. He was just excited to see me,' tis all. And please call me Selene." "So why have you called me here to the lake and mountain range that is on my packlands?" I asked. "I wanted to show you something and to tell you something as well. Do you remember the painting that Kara showed when you two first met?" All I could do was shake my head. Yes. "Good, that painting is of this lake and mountain range. The reason why she drew it is because I had brought her here before. You see Kara is special, you see. Have you ever heard of the Moon Stone Atlas?" "Yes, but I was told it was a myth and that it didn't really exist." "Oh, it is very real and it is here on your property deep within your mountain chain." I looked at her stand and she just chuckled at me. "You see Atlas, Kara is special because she has been chosen to be the next Moon Stone guardian." I looked at her shocked, "The next Moonstone guardian?" I asked. She looked at me and smiled and continued, "She will be our race's savior. She will be quite powerful once she comes into her full powers and will be sought after by those who want to do us harm. She will bring peace to our kind. But, Atlas, I am not trying to pressure you, anything but time is running short for her. She needs to find the moonstone and be marked by you and find the Moonstone before the great moon reaches its highest peak in the sky on her 18th birthday. You don't have to mark her at that moment. That can be done prior to that, but she must have the moonstone in her possession right when the great moon is at its most powerful." Apollo was howling in my head. He was extremely excited to hear this about our mate. I did everything I could to calm him down so I could hear what Selene had to say. I finally had to push him in the back of my mind. "What does this have to do with me?" I asked her. "Plenty," she replied, " you are what they call her keeper, when she receives her powers you will in turn receive yours to be able to protect her when she can't." "Protect her, how will I know when I have too?" " You will know when the time comes my son," "Goddess, what does my mountain range have to do with all this?" I asked. She looked at me and smiled and replied, "The moonstone is hidden in your mountain range and only the true moonstone guardian can find its hiding spot. So, with that being said, Kara needs to be at this location exactly at midnight on her 18th birthday to be able to get the moonstone from its hiding place." "I will see that she is there at that time. But what does marking her have to do with this? Besides, I don't want to mark her unless she is ready for me too." I told the moon Goddess. "You are a good Alpha, my son. I knew I chose wisely when I matched you two together a long time ago." "Now there is another matter that you must attend to my son. Kara is currently in trouble, but don't fret, for when you wake up you will be able to get to her in time." She told me. She turned and started to walk away. As she did, she began to fade. She turned and looked at me and said "Her destiny and life are in your hands, please make sure that she is happy and safe." With that, she disappeared from sight.
