Chapter 18.

Logan grabbed Savannah’s hand, pulling her out of the café and into the bustling Zurich streets. The chill in the air was nothing compared to the tension between them. “We need to get to Roth & Weiss before Sophie does,” Logan muttered, scanning the crowd for threats. Savannah matched his pace, her heart pounding. “What if she’s right? What if someone close to us has the key?” “We’ll deal with that when we have to,” Logan replied sharply. “Right now, we focus on the vault.” Suddenly, a black SUV screeched around the corner, tires skidding on the cobblestone street. Logan’s eyes narrowed. “Run!” Savannah didn’t hesitate. They darted through narrow alleys, weaving between startled pedestrians. The SUV roared behind them, jumping the curb in pursuit. “Left!” Logan shouted, pulling Savannah into a side street. But the SUV wasn’t alone. Two men on motorcycles sped up from the opposite direction, blocking their path. “Down!” Logan growled, shoving Savannah behind a stack of wooden crates as bullets zipped past them, splintering the wood. Logan drew his gun, firing back with precision. One biker swerved, crashing into a lamppost, but the other kept coming. Savannah’s breath came in short gasps. “Logan, we’re trapped!” “Not yet,” he growled, grabbing her hand again. “This way!” They sprinted into a crowded marketplace, ducking behind stalls and weaving through the crowd. Logan fired two quick shots, hitting the SUV’s front tire and sending it crashing into a fruit stand. “Move!” Logan urged as they raced toward a construction site. The remaining biker followed, pulling a knife as he leaped off his bike and charged at them. Logan pushed Savannah behind him, blocking the attacker’s strike with his forearm. The blade sliced his sleeve, but Logan countered with a swift punch, knocking the knife away. Savannah spotted a steel pipe on the ground. Without thinking, she grabbed it and swung hard, hitting the attacker in the back of the head. He crumpled instantly. Logan stared at her, slightly breathless. “Remind me never to piss you off.” Savannah smirked, adrenaline rushing through her veins. “Come on, we’re not done yet.” They bolted through the construction site, climbing scaffolding and leaping across platforms until they finally lost their pursuers. Breathless and battered, they ducked into an abandoned building. Savannah leaned against the wall, gasping for air. “Please tell me this gets easier.” Logan chuckled darkly. “Not a chance.” He checked his phone. “Roth & Weiss is two blocks away.” Savannah nodded, determination in her eyes. “Then let’s finish this.” But as they stepped outside, a sleek black car pulled up beside them. The window rolled down, and Savannah’s breath caught in her throat. “Get in,” Sophie said with a smirk. “Unless you’d prefer another chase?” Logan clenched his jaw. “We don’t have time for this.” “No,” Sophie replied smoothly. “But if you want to get into that vault alive... you’re going to need me.” Savannah’s eyes narrowed. “Why should we trust you?” Sophie’s grin was cold. “Because, darling... I’m your only shot at surviving The Broker.” Logan glanced at Savannah. She nodded grimly. “Fine,” Logan said, sliding into the car. “But if you betray us...” Sophie laughed softly. “Oh, sweetheart, betrayal is half the fun.” As the car sped off, Savannah couldn’t shake the feeling that the real fight was just beginning.
