Jyra’s POV
I stared at the wedding dress again, in so much agony.
My fingers moved through the beads on the gown but my heart didn't feel the excitement I once felt when I first held it.
They felt like little blades on a dress, cutting open my skin like my sister cut into my heart.
I was not okay.
I was gradually losing it.
What did I do to deserve this level of betrayal?
Everything felt useless, I wish I died with my mother.
I wish she stuffed some of her blood in my mouth so I could share in her unfortunate fate!.
“You have not eaten anything, Jyra.”
I swallowed hard and turned to Goshen.
“How do you expect me to eat! Are you not aware of everything happening in my life?”
I asked balantly, my hands still roaming from the top to the bottom of my dream wedding gown.
“Jyra darling. But you need to eat no matter what, food is life.”
He stood up and grabbed my head, laying it on his chest and tapping the side of my arm.
“I am very sorry about everything sweetheart.”
He kissed my forehead, using his tongue to massage it.
He turned me around to face him and he kissed my lip.
I did not flinch.
I felt no rush of emotions or the tiny little butterflies I always felt when a kiss was planted in my lips.
He continued kissing me, pulling my pink lips into his and taking his time to roam around my fave.
He licked my cheeks, sucked on my tongue and circled my nose but I did not move.
I was getting turned on but I could not reciprocate the energy.
I just stood there, my eyes closed and my head almost bowed down.
“You are not responding…”
He lifted my hands and put them on his shoulders, moving the kiss down to my neck.
My left ear with wet kisses, drawing fine lines on my neck with his tongue.
I moved my head back and sighed.
“I cannot do this right now with you.”
He halted, and I could see his emotions dropping very fast.
“You now despise me?”
His voice was shaky and heavy with sobs, I pulled away.
“It is not that. I like you, a lot but I don’t see us ever being together.”
I plumped on the bed, wells of tears clouding my eyes.
I was gradually embracing reality.
I hated how fast my eyes teared up.
“Why would you say that? I know things are rough now…but there is always a brighter side.”
“The night before our wedding was the night a family meeting was called on my behalf.”
I said the obvious.
“And so what? You are innocent and once your uncle also testifies to that, you will be free. We will plan another wedding and you will be my Luna.
Mating season is fast approaching and we would also have little puppies.”
Goshen was an optimistic person.
That was one thing that attracted me to him.
No matter how bad or how crazy something got, he always saw the brighter side of things, he was always positive, his soul would continuously crave for the light at the end of the tunnel.
“If only you know the rule surrounding the crime leveled against me and what the elders would do-“
I was cut short by the ringing of the Great Bell of the village.
“The great bell is ringing!”
Goshen exclaimed, his heart in his mouth.
The bell only rang when someone old dies. It rang when my mother died.
I heard the thud of wolves racing to the muster points, to hear the bad news first hand and Goshen and I followed them.
It was a distanve to run but it was also worthy for the race.
“Good evening everyone. We all know that the great bell is only rang during very sad times and we are here to relay a very sad news. The death of one of us.”
Murmurs filled the space, every wolf in attendanve trying to get a mental head count of their pack members, to figure out who died.
I was watching in silence and not caring about the demise of any wolf.
“Can I get all your attention now?”
Everywhere went silent, and the wolves stared at him…like they were waiting for their haunts.
“Pa Kleon Trunts is dead.”
My heart stopped functioning.
Did I hear wrong or was I hallucinating?
This better be a dream!
My uncle is dead???
No way!.
No damn way!.
My lips dried up, turning white and my hands swelled up from lack of pumping blood.
“No no no!!! This cannot be true!”
I tired running forward to where the announcer stood but Goshen held me back, allowing me to wail in his chest.
“It is going to be alright.”
He tightened his grip on my wrist and pulled me away from the crowd and back to the house.
“How!!!”
“Calm down, we are not sure of that information.”
I gritted my teeth and clenched my fists, the bad blood in me covering my eye sight.
“What other information do we need? Jurrade is accusing me of sleeping with my uncle and days before the next family meeting, my uncle who is supposed to bail me out of these accusations is dead?
“It's over”. I yelled at the top of my voice.
Goshen held me down, walking back to the house, my whole body weak, the tears pouring uncontrollably.
I exclaimed and wept before sleeping off on the bed.
The day of the family came by fast and before the passing of judgments started, I already knew how it would end.
“Why have you pled the fifth?”
Jurrade stood up and asked me, an evil smile spreading across her mouth.
“I have nothing else to say, Jurrade. I already said my side of the story.”
“Your opinion won’t do you any good here.”
She walked out from where she stood, coming towards the podium where I was.
She turned around to address the rest of the pack members.
“According to ancient law, any wolf found guilty of incest or any form of Forbidden romance should be banished from the pack.”
“Banished”. The words that echoed in my ears.
I fell to the floor, speechless and completely out of it.
The greatest shock of my life.
Everybody was in shock. Whispers were loud and chatters were proud.
The eldest person in the pack stood up and cleared his throat.
“You are right,Jurrade. The punishment for Forbidden affairs is banishment and no crime goes unpunished.”
He looked at me mercilessly and continued his speech.
“Jyra, since you have been found guilty, you are hereby banished from BiBlood Wolf Pack Village!”
