Self disgust. That was exactly what Alexander was feeling at that moment. He felt a jab to his heart with each button Rose undid.
“Stop,” he whispered. He felt as if his voice would break her if he spoke any louder. She looked so vulnerable and it made him feel even worse about himself.
Rose didn’t listen. Her shaky hands moved down to her fourth button and slowly unfastened them as well. Alexander’s breathing hitched as more of her skin was exposed to his eyes.
“Stop,” he whispered again. This time, instead of waiting for Rose to comply, he stepped forward and placed his hand over hers. “That’s enough.”
Silence then engulfed them. Neither of them said a word or made a noise. The only noises to be heard was the overwhelming sound of silence.
