Wes’s Point of View
“Okay, what’s the plan tonight boys?” I raised the bottle of lager to my lips with a questioning gaze towards my brother and the rest of the guys, we were all sitting around the living-room. The girls had headed into Bourbon Street for a girls’ night out to celebrate Paisley’s graduation and we were having a “guys night” and it was turning into what all of us did in our free evening time, drinking beer and watching sports. We were sitting in Kai’s living-room with the TV on mute.
“What the f**k you lookin’ at me for? You’re the Alpha, aren’t you supposed to be the one with the plan?” Kai shot back.
“Well, I’m thinking we need to do more than drink beer and watch tv. We have a free night to do whatever we want and we are all sitting around doing nothing. What did we use to do before we were all mated-house-husbands?” I looked at everyone trying to think back to when I was a young wolf before Bea and I had mated, the time was a bit of a blur.
“Dude, all we did was chase the same girls we are with now man, Kai was AWOL and Augustine was a puppy,” Wyatt said
“Hey!” Augustine said in retaliation.
“You were Aug, we don’t mean in a bad way, it’s just facts. Think about it, when Kai and Dede got together you were like 8?” Wyatt explained.
“Oh, ya, I guess you’re right.” Augustine started to count backwards on his fingers and realized Wyatt was correct.
“Fuck.” He was right, even before we had mated, Bea had been all I could see, and all I wanted, I followed her around like a lost pup.
Wyatt spoke up, “we’re drinking beer that's something, we could switch to whiskey if you wanna get crazy.” He smirked and chuckled like the f*****g smartass he was.
“Oh f**k off,” I said responding to the suggestion.
All of a sudden Augustine spoke up, “anyone else sort of wish the girls had invited us to come with them?”
Kai nodded as he took a swig of his beer, “ya, not gonna lie, I would have f*****g loved to see every guy in that club looking at Deeds and seeing the big ass rock I just put on that pretty little finger.” He said it with a casual tone like it was something that happened every day.
I spat the mouthful of beer out in a spray, covering my brother in my spit and lager.
“f**k dude. I just changed before I came over here!” Kai looked at me pissed as f**k that I just soaked him.
“What the f**k did you just say, Kai?”
I looked around at the other guys who had equally confused and shocked looks on their faces, everyone was staring at Kai as he tried to dry himself off as nothing had happened.
“Okay, again, Kai! What the f**k did you just say?” I had gotten his attention and he looked up with a sly grin on his face.
“I may have asked Adelaide to marry me this morning and her crazy ass said yes.” A look of pure victory and triumph was on his face.
“Moon goddess man, congratulations to you, but I think we may have to get that woman’s head checked if she wants to tie the knot with you!” I hugged my brother and spoke quietly to him so the others couldn’t hear, “I’m so proud of you man, I love you, she’s a lucky woman.” I pulled away and Kai gave me a nod.
The other guys got up to shake his hand and hug him offering their congratulations. I stepped away and thought to myself about how badly I had wanted to propose to Bea, the ring had been sitting in my drawer for the better part of 4 years, I had seen it in a*****e window and knew it was the one from the second I saw it. One day, for now this was Kai’s moment.
“Okay boys, now we have something to celebrate. I think there is no reason for us not to head down to Bourbon Street for some celebratory drinks and maybe a bit of skirt chasing.” I smiled to myself at my plan that had finally presented itself to me.
“Skirt chasing? Really? You think ANY of us will get away with skirt chasing, considering the women we are all with? That sounds like a suicide pact.” Kai eyed me with a suspicious look.
“I realise that, I’m not stupid,” I responded.
“Really, could have fooled me on more than one occasion.” Kai shot back.
“What I meant, was that we can go chase the skirts of OUR women. We will make it a double celebration, and we can crash their girls’ night out.” I could feel the pride in my chest as I saw approval come across all of their faces.
“I’ll grab the keys, lets f*****g go.” Wyatt stated standing from the couch and pouring the remaining ¾ of his beer into the sink.
“Right! Let's saddle up boys! Let’s crash this girls’ night!” I yelled as we all started towards the garage.
