Chapter 3 There was nothing to do at work today, even with it being the start of construction season, so Kent took the day off and headed north to Missoula. There was a job placement office there that might be able to help him find someone willing to give him a paycheck until a job opened up with the state electrical board, or something. He drove around the state forest, past the chicken plant and then through Florence, where his parents lived. It was only a half hour, maybe forty-five-minute drive to Missoula and he kept the windows down, even though the wind roared through the car, making it impossible to listen to music. Music would have made him feel too relaxed, too drowsy. The wind woke him up, made him feel alert and almost like his usual self. I have to stop staying out so late.
