Chapter 3

I woke up early the next morning, I sat up and rubbed my irritated eyes and looked around the room. Gally was still asleep. He's such a dick.... even when he's not awake. But I was willing to put the past behind me, I got up and put my blanket on him gently and went outside. I floundered out, still half asleep, I watched, enticed as the low rumbling noise came again and the gigantic doors leisurely parted. At that moment a crowd of boys ran into the maze, they, I supposed, were the runners. As I was watching, I heard I voice I really didn't want to hear. "You're up then." I heard behind me. I turned around to see Gally. "Thanks for the blanket, I was really cold" he said sarcastically. I clenched by teeth when he said this and tried to ignore his childish ways. "What you looking at greenie?" He demanded rudely. I shrugged and gave him a hard, blatant stare. He came to where I was standing and looked out. He looked uneasy and then looked at me, almost in disgust. "We might as well find you some work, what do you you want? he questioned sighing; he looked like he wanted to do anything but this. "Um... I quite like the med-jacks." I muttered. "Well, I suppose I'd better take you there" he huffed and gestured towards the hospital. "Its fine, I know the way" I said and began to make my way in the right direction. At the same time Gally started to stride over and knocked my shoulder, hard, I staggered back and fell, he was pretty massive compared to me. I looked at my hands and I had grazed them and scarlet blood was seeping out of tiny cuts. I frowned and looked up at Gally. He looked down at me and rolled his eyes. "Get up greenie I don't have time for frolicking" he remarked impatiently. "You're the one who pushed me over" I said still sitting on the floor. "Don't argue with me, it's the biggest mistake you'll ever make; messing with me" he said folding his arms proudly. I rolled my eyes. "The only problem with you Gally is that you're a mirror boy, you could spend hours and hours looking at yourself and hearing about yourself and never find it tedious" I remarked grinning smugly. He frowned at me and huffed loudly. "Right, come on now that you finished your major lecture and novel" he said gruffly walking away. I started to get up and then sat back down. No, just because I'm a girl he can't treat me like that and he should know that. "No, not until you apologise" I said folding my arms sternly. "What ever" he said. "You look like a child" he remarked, staring down his nose at me. "Fine, but I'm a child who demands a bit of respect and I'm not moving until I get some" I replied sternly. He shuffled from foot to foot and looked at me. "Sorry" he said very quietly. I got up and smiled and walked past him triumphantly. He rolled his eyes and walked towards the builders leaving me to go to the hospital. Obviously apologising was too much for Gally to cope with. I arrived to see Clint putting some things away. "Aah, Tee, thought you'd try out, huh? Well your volunteering is very handy, because we are short of staff as it happens. Not that we're spoiled for choice" he said chuckling, I smiled and sat on a bed. After a while and I went outside to get a breath of fresh air as it had got quite humid in there. I saw Gally working on a hut and banging something into place (not in that way). I stared at him working, he was right, he was probably the strongest guy here, but obviously I'm not going to admit that to his face. He mopped his brow and with one clean movement he pulled his shirt off, his bronze chest shining in the morning light. I'm going to be honest, he had a nice body, toned in just the right places, I couldn't help but have a cheeky peek. He looked over absently and caught me looking at him. He smirked to himself and looked away. I hastily went back in not wanting to get too distracted, and kind of annoyed he caught me. No sooner had I done so than I heard a tremendous crash and a series of shouts, I ran outside and saw someone on the ground; it was Gally with blood smeared on his face from splinters. There was a large piece of wood on the floor which I presumed was from the roof they were assembling, most likely fallen off and hit him in the face. I heard him yell. "You moron!" I cringed and went back in. Newt and Harry brought him in and laid him on a bed. He still had no shirt on but I think I'm focusing on the wrong point here. His face looked battered even though this happened in the space of 2 seconds. "Fancy seeing you here" I said. "I've only been in here once since your arrival, don't get too torn up about it" he shortly and winced. "Huh, that's an improvement!" Clint snorted. "I'm guessing that you're a rather frequent patient then Gally" I remarked. "You can say that again, well I'll leave you to it Tee, I've got some errands to run." and Clint walked out leaving Gally and me alone. I wish he hadn't.... I tried to imagine he was Newt or Chuck instead. I examined his face. "I was building the roof and an i***t hadn't secured it properly." He said quickly. I nodded. "Hmmm, you're lucky; the splinters have only just penetrated the skin." I wiped the blood off his face and removed the splinters, one hand on his cheek the whole time. "You don't need to act all tough in front of me" I said, a slight smile tickling my lips. He didn't reply and just looked away. "Look greenie, don't take this seriously, you cleaned a wound, we had a conversation, that's it, think nothing of it, because I won't" he said shifting slightly. I spoke whilst working. "Alright, I can assure you I definitely won't too" I exclaimed equally frustrated. "Your hands are soft" he said still looking away. "What?" I asked smirking slightly. "Just get on with it greenie" he said looking away. When I'd finished, Gally immediately tried to get up but failed, he winced again. "Ruddy back" he cursed. "What do you expect, a roof fell on you" I pointed out. "I need to get back to work, I'll be fine" he said shrugging it off. "Ok, you can go but I will help you." He nodded and swung his arm around my neck I hauled him up. "Gosh you're heavy." I groaned. "What do you expect, I'm not exactly a pixie am I?" he remarked. "I figured" I retorted. By the time we were back in our hut it was night, the doors had closed and the gladers had departed to their hammocks. I lay Gally down on his bed. "I'm sleeping on the floor, I thought we agreed that" he complained. "Yes, well that was before you got yourself crushed by a hut. Don't worry, I'll sleep on the floor until you are better." I said softly. He rolled his eyes and finally agreed. I settled down and he threw me a blanket and pillow. "Thanks Gally" I said and we made brief eye contact which he broke. "It's just a blanket greenie" he said and rolled over. A/N: ooooo and what's this? Keep reading to find out! Duz xox
