Alice
"Hey, have you seen my tights?" I asked Ady.
"Nope, ask Lisa," she replied. Living with my best friends was cool but sometimes it wasn't. They both had different personalities and habits. Ady was neat but unorganized and Lisa was messy. It was frustrating for someone like me who liked everything in its place and neatness.
"Well, I got to go. Next time, ask me to borrow my stuff before taking it," I got dressed in some shorts and a tank instead. I left for rehearsals. I was a dancer at a nightclub and I was on probation. A trial basis you could say. I was never late and trained really hard. I needed the money so I wanted to work hard and prove myself.
I showed up fifteen minutes early. The owner, Maya Lionheart, always commented on it. She was super cool and nice.
"Ready girls," she said. She turned on the music and we began to learn the steps. "So, ladies, this isn't just about impressing the men. We want to get everyone feeling good and if you feel good, you will accomplish that. So be confidant and feel sexy."
The first moves were easy. It was a lot of feeling yourself. Swaying your hips from left to right and circling them around. As the music picked up, the steps got harder.
"Nice job Alice, you're a natural," Mrs. Lionheart said.
"Really?" I questioned.
"Yes," she smiled.
"I'm not much of a dancer, I just needed the job," I said honestly. "I'm sorry if that sounded bad."
"No, I like honesty, it's okay," she said. "Still you are really good. You're going to have fun tonight. Remember ladies, don't do anything you don't feel comfortable with but you know what the name of the game is. You want tips, well. I used to work here too. Have fun tonight, if you need anything, come tell me or Nancy."
I went to take a shower and got dressed. I was contemplating calling Mateo but he had acted so strangely before he left. I had no time for games. I didn't even want anything serious, he is so stupid. I had to stay focused on my plans and my new job. It required a new wardrobe too so I went shopping for outfits to wear. They would provide the dancing costumes so we all matched on stage but for our regular one on ones we had to wear our own clothes. I didn't really own anything that revealing.
Later That Night
After hours of shopping, I found a few good pieces. It was my first night working. I was so nervous. I had been training for a whole week. I had two-stage numbers and then I had to hit the floor and find someone to dance for. I was scared but ready. I went backstage to get dressed. Our first outfit was a red and black bikini and matching skirt. It was very small, my boob literally peeked out the bottom of the top and the skirt was so short you could see my ass when I moved. I guess this was the point. The music started and my heart began to race. I took my place on stage and remembered Mrs. Lionheart's words.
"Confident, I have to be confident," I said to myself. I needed someone to notice me so I made money tonight.
I shook my hips from side to side and dropped down. I made sure to pop my ass out before I slowly and seductively stood up. I flipped my hair and smiled. I noticed a few people looking at me. I was hoping I was doing a good job. Soon enough, the music stopped and it was over. It was fast but it was thrilling. I was on cloud nine. I went to go get changed. The adrenalin was still pumping through me so I took that confidence and walked around the floor to find someone to dance for.
"Hey," some guy said. I smiled and said hello.
"So, what's your name?" he asked.
"Hey, Lex," someone called me by my stage name. "Someone is asking to join him for a private dance."
"Okay," I said. "Excuse me," I told the other guy." I walked over to the private room. I was stunned to see him there.
"Breathe," I didn't realize I wasn't.
"Hey," I said stupidly.
"Hello again," he said. "Lex was it? Stage name?"
"Yeah," I smiled.
"Well, guess it's for the best," he said. "So, how about a dance? I saw you out there and well, damn." My smile grew wider.
"Are you going to pick the music or should I?" I asked him.
"You can," he said. I went over to the music player in the room and turned it.
"Interesting, do you speak Spanish? he asked.
"No, do you?" I said as I began dancing.
"My name is Santiago Miguel Lionheart," he said.
"Oh, I see," I said without realizing what I should have. "Lionheart? Your mother owns this club."
"Yes, and soon I will," he said.
"What?"
"She was hoping my brother took it over but I think I will now,"
"Why?"
"I see a lot of potential here and benefits that would make it worth my wild," his voice was smooth and deep. It was like he was reciting poetry. I haven't seen this man since London. s**t, I was in trouble but I needed this job.
"Come closer," he said.
