The Eren's effect

1305 Words
Emily's Point Of View I gulp. My throat feels dry. Can we just talk about how beautiful those emerald eyes are? I feel like I'm drowning in them. I'm petrified even though no one has cast me a 'Petrificus Totalus' spell. The guy who is gripping my wrist looks irritated because I just disturbed his sleep, but then his expression softens as he stares at me. "Emily?" he whispers, his voice low, sending shivers down my spine. Or maybe it's the fact that the handsome guy I've just met apparently knows my name and whispers it so softly that I could record it just to hear it again. "I see that you two met each other." My brother's voice makes me jump, and the grip on my wrist is instantly gone. Peter stands in the foyer, a smirk on his face, his hands in his pockets. I straighten up, tucking a strand of hair behind my ear. The guy turns around, facing Peter. "Eren, meet Emily." He introduces me. "Emily, this is Eren, my best friend and Alpha of the Blackblood pack." My eyes widened. This was Eren Blackwood, the Alpha and ruler to one of the biggest packs on the continent. His pack was completely influential and powerful, no one dared to mess with them. His father, the previous Alpha, was known to be a very ruthless man. I actually did not expect to find other supernaturals in Princeton, and for my brother to be close friends to one. "Finally," Eren says, almost sounding annoyed. "Been wanting to meet THE Emily." That sentence makes me wonder what bullshit Peter said to this poor clueless guy about me. It's not like I have the qualities to be bragged, other than being a spoiled sister. Peter laughs. "Chill. We have a lot of time to catch up on that," he says to Eren before looking at me. "You should rest for a while after the journey, Emm. We all can hang out later tonight. There's this cool bar I want to show to you.” I roll my eyes, but a soft smile touches my lips. He always knows how to make me smile. "Fine." With that, I walk off to my room. As soon as I enter my bathroom, I blow a sigh, staring at my face in the mirror. Involuntary, I curse, noticing that the four hours journey to New Jersey has left me looking like a wreck. I look pale, and my lips are dry in addition to a bad hair day. Then I curse again. Stupid me. ‘Quit picking yourself apart, you're just acting insecure because of the handsome stranger you just met.’ Esme noted mentally. Was she right? Did this insecurity result from Eren's effect? Gosh. It's not like I haven't seen a good looking guy before. But there was something different about him, he held a charismatic and dangerous aura that could have any woman falling before him. I step into the bathtub and decide that I'm just going to have a nice, long and warm aromatherapy bath to relax my muscles. It is eight PM when I finally walk out of my room, wearing a brown long sleeve crop top, blue jeans. I don't do much to my wavy blonde hair, letting it fall naturally over my shoulder. When I enter the living room, Eren is there, scanning the books inside the shelves hanging on the wall, his back facing me. "Hey," I call, making him turn around. I give him a slight smile before casually walking to the kitchen. I'm scanning what we have inside the fridge when I notice his eyes on me. I glance at him, only to find that he's been staring at me. After taking out a bottle of mineral water, I lay my back against the fridge, facing absolutely anything else but him, because my heart starts to pound from his intense gaze. I sigh and devour the water, suddenly feeling like I need a gallon of it. "Can you not..." I pause, feeling awkward. "Stare at me like that?" "Like what?" I turn my head towards him. "Like what you're doing now." Then I look away and take a gulp of the water again. "Can't I stare at something beautiful?" His words almost make me choke and spit the water in my mouth to the ground. Almost. Thank God. I snap my head towards him, my face turning extremely red, wiping the water off my mouth with the back of my hand. He scoffs at me. "I'm sure Peter won't kill me for that. It's a compliment." "What compliment?" Peter shuffles over to the living room. "Are we leaving now?" Eren grabs the car keys on the cabinet and throws it to Peter. Did I mention he had a thick English accent? It was amazing. "Let's go." Peter walks to the door, and we follow suit. We arrive at a busy bar, Tropical Thunder. My gaze darts on the straw in my cocktail drink as I spin it inside the glass, sitting quietly at the bar. The drink tastes great, just like what Peter told me. The bar is cool, the workers are very friendly, and the atmosphere is cosy and warm. But that doesn't make me less restless. No. It's not because of Eren. Although the guy has successfully made me blush twice today. I have noticed that the majority of the customers of this bar are human college students, and they're all looking at the three of us now. No. Staring, precisely. "Why is everybody looking at us?" I whisper. Sitting beside me, Peter scoffs before taking his tequila shot. "They don't usually stare like that. They look, but they don't stare too long. It's you, Emm." "What?" I ask, dumbfounded. "They're looking at you." He turns to me. "Why?" I ask. "In case you didn't notice, a lot of guys stare at you, even back at the Pack." Peter makes his point. "Yeah. Before you made them all scatter." Peter bursts into laughter. "Can't help it," he says, a hint of pride in his voice. But this is different. The gazes are too obvious, especially from the girls, perhaps because I'm with the two most wanted bachelors on campus. 'Who the hell is this newcomer b***h?' They must be thinking. "Hey, Peter," a seductive voice echoes in my ears, and I try hard not to roll my eyes. This is just too familiar. I don't know when I'll get used to it. "Wanna dance?” I look up to see a black-haired girl in a halter top leaning against the bar counter. She touches Peter's shoulder, and he smirks. I scoff in annoyance. Screw me. I call my brother overprotective, while I'm actually just the same. We just handle the matter differently. I know that Peter just wants to have fun. And he can do that. He's a dude, anyway. Right now, he may not have found his mate or someone for serious dating, but when he does, I'm sure that he'll tell me. "Why me, Lesley? I'm not the only single guy here," Peter replies, his tone sounding more like an invitation rather than a rejection. The girl smirks, looking at Eren. "Everybody knows that Eren is more unavailable than a married man. Wow. That's new to me. So, Eren is single, but he's always cold and distant to girls? Without waiting for Peter's response, Lesley pulls him as the band plays an upbeat song, inviting more people to the dance floor. Great. That leaves me alone with Eren. I turn my head towards him and find him staring at me with interest, as if my irritated face is interesting to watch. I snap my head towards the bartender. Shit! I definitely need another drink right now.
