Chapter V: A Proposal?

Bang. Bang. Bang. A heavy hand knocked on the young prince's door. The noise stirred the young prince awake, the banging was going to give him a headache if it continued. He drew his covers away from his body and allowed the creeping sun to shine on his bronzed skin. He walked towards his wooden bedroom door. He swung it open and came face to face with his step mother, the queen. The queen gazed at the young prince and her eyes traced his naked body. Unaware, he had awoken and opened the door without though hence gracing the Queen with his nakedness. A blush covered his face and he closed the door on the queen's face and rushed to his bed rushly putting on his robe.
The queen astonished did not insist on banging the door again. She stood patiently waiting for the young prince to open the door and welcome her in. The two guards were puzzled by the queen's behavior as they had witnessed the door banging on her face but they had not seen a naked prince. The prince opened the door and ushered the Queen in.
"My Queen, my apologies, I was unprepared for your visit this morning"
"hush now son, forgive my impromptu visit, i wanted to discuss something that could not wait a second longer"
The young prince ushered her to a seat and sat opposite her
"What do you wish to discuss, Your Highness"
She reached out for his hand on the table in between them
"Please, call me mother, have I not raised you as my own?"
"I am sorry"
With a gentle smile, she rubbed his hand looking at him adoringly. He had grown to be such a handsome boy she thought.
"A marriage proposal came in yester night"
The young prince's ears picked up," marriage proposal? "
"Yes"
"for my sisters?"
The Queen nodded her head no. A puzzled look appeared on the Prince's face, if not his sisters who would the marriage proposal be for, surely not him. He was the one who needs to send our marriage proposals.
"For me?" he asked with a high pitched voice clearly masking his shock
The Queen looked at him intently trying to gauge his reaction.
"Yes, for you"
The young prince suddenly woke up. This was unheard off. He has never heard of a prince getting a marriage proposal before. Although some Kings suggest a marriage of their daughter they never send proposals before. His head was spinning and he needed to sit back down.
