Chapter 11
Before
Jayda 22
Brian 12
"Jayda!" Brian hurried outside to where Donnie and Jayda are seated, smoking.
"Putt off the cigarette" She whispered. She stomped on both stick with her feet before Brian's arrival.
Donnie rolls his eyes in disbelief at her.
"It's Lucy. We were playing and then she tripped and bruised her leg. I already applied first aid but she keeps crying and won't let me put a band-aid on it."
The trio hurried to the backyard to find little Lucy on the grass, crying.
"Hey, sweetie" Jayda bent down to inspect the scratch. "Pass me the bandaid" she collects the strip from Brian's hand and places it on Lucy's wound carefully.
"Check the lower kitchen cabinet by the fridge, bring the pack of candy in it," Jayda told Brian and he returned a few seconds later with the bag of candy.
Jayda removes one and hands it over to Lucy.
"Now promise me you'll stop crying if I give you this?"
Lucy replied with a nod and the minute she made contact with the candy, she stopped crying. Jayda played with her hair a bit before standing up.
"Carry your sister to the living room and make her sit on the chair until she can walk without a limp"
Brian lifted her on his shoulders into the living room.
"Don't give me that look, it's a mistake no one caused"
"I didn't give you any look... Can we go back now?"
Donnie led Jayda away from the backyard to where they'd been smoking in the front yard.

Brian 17
Jayda 27
"I'm going to wait until Donnie returns before heading upstairs," Jayda said while placing kisses on the cheeks of Lucy and Brian.
"You know what? I suddenly don't feel sleepy any more so I'll wait with you" Brian said
"Are you sure?"
"Yes. I'll take Lucy to her room and then come back right away"
"Good night mum"
Brian led Lucy upstairs.
Jayda walked to the door a few seconds later to open it for Donnie.
"Hey babe" she aimed to kiss him and he dodged the approach.
"What's wrong?" Jayda asked "Are you hungry? I prepared your favourite. Do you want to take a shower first or eat first?"
"Where's Lucy?"
"She just went to bed" Jayda replied while he walked to the centre of the living room. "What happened? You're scaring me"
"I want to break up," He said after a long pause
Jayda looked at him for some hint of unseriousness and even laughed until she saw he wasn't laughing at all.
"What? Did I do something wrong?" Jayda asked as she walked slowly to him.
"No...I'm just tired...I'm tired of living this life with you. You are an amazing person with one of the kindest heart I've ever seen but I just can't continue with this relationship anymore."
"Babe," She suddenly hugged him tight caring less if it made her look pathetic.
"You can't be serious. You were happy this morning, something must have happened at work"
"That's the thing Jayda, I am not happy. I've never been in a long while. " he released her hold on him.
"You deserve to be with someone who is worthy of you. Someone who wouldn't fake being happy just to make you feel happy."
"I don't care!" She lashed out
"I do care! I care about my joy and happiness and if it's not with you, I see no reason why we should continue" He lashed back.
"Is there someone else?" His silence answered her question. "There's someone? You've been cheating on me? How long?"
"Look Jayda, life pretty much for you is just this place, this house and this town."
"This place, house and town is where we met.."
Donnie cuts in "I want so much more. I want to go to a city where I can make a lot of money instead of the little I earn here"
"If that's the case you don't have to break up with me. You can always go and then come home to visit"
"I'm not in love with you. I haven't been in a long while."
"How can you say that?"
"Because you have changed. Our lives used to be very flexible and simple but I don't feel that way anymore"
"Is this a joke? Are you trying to get me?" She looked around to see if they are being filmed.
"I met someone and we are going to get married. She doesn't know about you and I intend to make it that way because if you look at it, it was your pregnancy that joined us. We were two young people who didn't really know what love was."
"How can you be so cruel?" Tears uncontrollably streaming down from the corners of her eyes. "Maybe you should kiss me and then we make love. I'm sure you'll love me back." She begged while struggling to kiss him.
"Enough Jayda!" he pushed her away aggressively and then suddenly Brian walks into the living room and hit him across his face.
"I'm sorry Jayda but this is for the best" He slowly made his exit out of the house.
Jayda attempted to run after him but Brian held her back from doing so.
She struggled to break free from his grip and then ran upstairs into her room crying uncontrollably as she made every step on the stairs.
Brian hates seeing Jayda sad and this time it hurts more because there's nothing he can do to fix her broken heart.
He went up after her to see her aggressively drinking her sorrows away. She was drinking and taking out Donnie's clothes from the wardrobe.
" please go and stay with Lucy. I don't want her to see me like this" Jayda said. Brian looked at her helplessly. Her eyes had gone red and swollen.
"I already did and I think she can't hear anything because she has her headphone on the highest volume. She didn't notice when I checked in"
"Ok..ok..that's good. Please lock the door so she doesn't barge in and sees me like this"
Brian hurried to where she stood to calm her after doing as told.
"I'm sorry. I feel so bad that you had to witness all of this" Jayda apologised
Brian hugged her and even though he's just seventeen, his height towered above her.
"You don't have to be sorry about anything Jayda," He said as he brought back his face to meet her.
In the spur of the moment, Brian kissed Jayda and she returned the passionate kiss a few seconds later. He grabbed her tiny waist and buried his other fingers in her hair.
She suddenly broke the kiss and closed her eyes.
"Brian, this is wrong," she said weakly as the alcohol from the different drinks she had had begun to take effect.
"But it feels right" Brian kissed her again and this time, there was so much fire and emotion in the way they locked lips. He lifted the hem of her dress and gave her butt a tight squeeze.
He took over her mind, body and soul.
He led her to the bed and devoured her lips gently in ways she never knew existed. He grabbed on to her t**s and placed the other palm on her soaked panties. She seemed so fragile, innocent and vulnerable under his body and he had this animal instinct to protect her from the outside world.
Jayda, however, opened her eyes and pushed Brian off her.
"Oh my God, what have I done?" She rubbed her palms on her face as if that would erase the past few minutes.
"Nothing you should be sorry about," Brian said as he slowly stood back up.
Jayda got off the bed and started pacing back and forth. She's beginning to hate herself and more ashamed to look at Brian.
"Go to your room Brian"
"I am in love with you Jayda" He confessed after a long silence.
Jayda stopped walking to register what he'd just said.
"It's true. I have feelings for you. Feelings that I can't understand but I know it is genuine and I am not ashamed to say it"
"Keep your voice down, Lucy might hear you"
"I don't care if anyone can hear me. It will not stop me from speaking the truth"
"Brian I am your Godmother!" Jayda reminded him in case he forgot she is ten years older than him. A whole decade. "This is a sin"
"Age is just a number, I don't care," Brian said as he continued to walk closer to her until her back hit the wall of the room and his arms secured on each side.
All of a sudden, Jayda didn't see the little child she had raised for years, she saw a man and that man scared her.
"Adeline would flip in her grave to find out her best friend and son are romantically involved" She added
"She would be happy for me"
"And you think people will feel the same way? You're confused Brian, you're still a child who doesn't know the real meaning of life.
"Enough Jayda!" His eyes appeared bloodshot as he stared into the eyes of the woman that dominated his thoughts since his childhood.
"I have waited long enough to have you. I. Can't. Wait. Any more. You are mine. Get that into your thick stubborn skull"
She was supposed to feel mad for being reprimanded like a toddler but instead, her core craved for him most sinfully.
"Get out!" She said "leave this minute"
She pushed him out of her room and walked back to the window side to see him leaving the house.
They both need the space to think.
