Chapter 12

I wonder how I entered this kind of situation. I wonder how I agreed to this kind of agreement. I wonder how I ended up with this.

It's a cold and rainy afternoon when I got home.

My mother faced me with a confused look on her eyes. Later on her reaction change.

"So what's the result?" She ask but it seems like she already know it because of my reaction.

"I knew it, you are such a disappointment. Sending you to school is such a waste of time." She added but she is right. I am nothing but a disappointment to her.

I failed, I failed the bored exam.

My life has been miserable even before but this is the worst and I am so tired trying harder.

I started working and trying many jobs until my mother recommended me in the orphanage.

Inside with the children and the Nuns, my life isn't easy. I witnessed how the children ask for more foods but it is not enough for them.

Sometimes if I have the opportunity to bring foods at home, I will do it.

My life in Nelay City is not easy, but that is the kind of life I will always fight for just to stay with my family, my precious treasure, Mama and my Brother.

Not until Mother Isabela convinced me of doing something.

Mother is the richest Nun inside the convention and in the whole orphanage but I never saw her help the children inside even once.

She also have connections but I still don't get it why she chose to become a Nun not until I've met the Lauchengcos.

She have hidden grudges towards them that is why she sent me here as a start for her revenge.

The wild gray clouds covered the whole view of the sky.

It made the surroundings dark. I look back from the way I took earlier when I came here.

The grasses are tall but still it is a comfort zone for me. Nature will forever be a paradise in my life.

I decided to go back already since it is already getting dark and I think it is about to rain.

Suddenly I remember what happened last day when I visited Darkin's house. He didn't visit again today and no wonder about that.

But why I am disappointed? It is my idea for him to entertain the girl, right? So why get mad if he is just doing it already?

But I didn't know that that Karen is his friend's ex girlfriend.

I continued walking while sulking about Darkin but my eyes widened when a heavy rain poured down.

I run back towards the cabin near the river. It is getting dark and no one is around near this place.

The rain is still pouring and I stayed there watching how the water drops in the ground.

The rain didn't stop and the sky is darker now so I decided to turn my flashlight on from the mobile phone I brought.

Should I go instead and let myself get wet from the rain? It will not take long, anyway.

I will just run and just take a bath when I get home.

But the phone will get wet as well.

I entered the cabin and find something useful. I also found a big falsh light inside and I use it to find something that won't get wet so that I can cover my phone.

A few moments later I found a used plastic bag. It is kind of dirty but I won't be picky anymore. All I need is to cover the phone, I have all my contacts inside of this.

I turned the flashlight on again when I found a ripped rain coat but because I badly need it I won't say no for this thing.

I immediately wear it even if the shoulder part is also ripped. I rolled my eyes as I decided to go already.

I don't have a choice. Teresa will worry if I stay here longer.

I started walking while the heavy rain is still pouring. I look like a wet chick, Dang!

I groaned when my feet soaked somewhere. It's a hole full of mud.

I started pulling my feet back but it doesn't work so I don't have a choice but to let my slippers inside there.

When I successfully pulled my feet I decided to get my slipper inside the hole using my hand. I don't have a freaking choice or else I will continue walking with only one slipper in my feet.

My hand is already muddy now. My other hand is holding the flashlight with my phone already sealed using the used plastic cellophane I found in the cabin.

"Whoah!" I smiled when I successfully pulled it.

I immediately stand up and wear it.

I continued walking but the flashlight is already dead bat. I want to scream because how unlucky I am. Great, just great!

I heaved a sighed before decided to run instead so I will get home faster but the way is so muddy and slippery when my slippers suddenly slide causes me to lose my balance.

"Argghh!!!" I screamed when I heard something.

If I am not mistakes it is a horse. I agressively and attentively scanned the place but I can't find anyone.

It is already dark and I don't have a flashlight anymore because it's already died because it run out of battery.

I let a heavy breathe when suddenly a hand grab my wrist that made me scream even more.

"WAHHHHHH!" I scream.

I am about to pull my hands when I realized that I shouldn't.

"Hey, it's me, Darkin."

I opened my eyes and I can see that it is really him even if it is already dark.

I immediately grab him before encircling my arms on his name when I remembered someone doing the same thing last day with him.

I let him go from my sudden hug and swallowed hard.

"Why are you here again?" I ask in a sulky tone when he grab my wrist again.

"I should be the one who is asking that. " His voice is like a thunder to me but he is trying to calm.

"Why did you came here alone! Huh?" He added, trying to supressed some emotions that I can't describe.

"Why? Should I go here with you? Should I call for you before coming here even if I already know that you are busy flirting?"

My lips parted because of what I said. My voice is full of bitterness so I decided to pull my hand again from him but still he is grabbing it all over again.

"What are you saying, huh? You should ask the other workers to go with you, Ethel. Another thing is, why did you came here with this kind of weather?" He ask.

I can't help but to stop from talking. What's going on with me?

Why would I even ask him that? I am not his obligation.

"Yeah, you are right. I should ask the workers. But you should've ask them too for coming here." I said sarcastically before finally pulling my hands from him and not letting him to grab it again.

I continued walking even if he keeps on following me.

"What's happening to you, Ethel? And the other day, why did you go to my house without even talking or waiting for me? I heard from our maids that you just suddenly go home." He said while following me.

Even if the rain is falling I can clearly hear him.

"Ethel, C'mon! What is happening to you? Let's use the horse. We badly need to talk." He said but I keep on continuing from walking.

"You really is so stubborn, huh?" He uttered before suddenly grab my waist.

He effortlessly carried me using his arms.

"Darkin! What the hell are you doing?" I shouted while he is still carrying me.
