Hand Over - Lexi pov

I’m at the alphas office waiting for Damien everything seems so organised and in place, not a lot has changed since my father was here and that was 13 years ago everything in the same place and still has his photos of the family around and his trophies and certificates in the cabinet. I look at the photo on his desk of the four of us at the winter ball the last photo of us together before it all happened, we looked so happy and whole, I long for them moments that feeling of safeness like the world can’t hurt us. I hear the door handle which brings me back from my thoughts I put the photo down quickly to not make Damien aware of my reminiscing, “don’t put that down on my account Lexi, they are your memories you don’t have to hide from me” calming tone in Damien’s voice “sorry I was just having a nose, not much has changed in here” I slightly smile “your father had an organised way of work, it wasn’t up to me to change that, we will work how is best for you now” he makes his way over to me places his hand on my shoulder “beautiful picture of you all isn’t it” me not realising I was still holding my gaze to the photo “yes it was a lovely evening too from what I can remember, which isn’t much” saddened I look at him “anyway let’s get this show on the road where do we start” I say trying to sound more upbeat.

“There’s a-lot to go through Lexi, we will go through it all throughly it will take a few days and a lot of information but I will be here to help you all the way”

Over the next few hours we go over the pack details and different managers come up to meet us to go through what they do and where I help out, the main thing is they come to me tell me what’s going on and I sign off with them if I’m happy with their schedules and work anything from patrols to kitchen shifts to training schedules. From what I gather everyone works really well together, Damien and Stephen have done a great job with the running of things in my fathers place. I look at the time and it’s nine PM, “Damien I have kept you from Elaine all day she’s going to kill me” I say laughing “maybe we should call it a day then” he says while checking his watch “I didn’t realise it was this late he puts the paper work away and we head off to our apartments.

I walk through the door to be greeted by Aria and Tyler watching a movie laughing and joking to close together on the sofa, I let out a growl from jealousy he’s my mate why are they so close. Aria startled by my growl “what’s up with you little Luna” while glaring at me with a questioning stare “stubbed my toe” I say while trying to make it convincing. “Get your act together Lexi” I’m thinking to myself, I’m going to drive them away if I continue to act like this.

“Oh” aria looks back at the tele to the film they are watching, Tyler hasn’t taken his eyes off me since I walked through the door. I’m panicking I’ve given the game up he knows something is going on, “I’m going to shower” I say as I rush to my room to try and get out of this situation.

I shut the bedroom door and crash face first on to the bed and scream into my pillow as I lift my head, his sweet scent hits me, s**t he’s in here I look round to him and he’s just staring at me “what’s going on Lexi, you are not yourself and seem to be avoiding me!” The seriousness in his tone “nothing Ty just busy doing Luna handover and trying to sort everything out” “so why did you run out the dining hall this morning without saying hello” his glare burning into me “I was just running late that’s all sorry Ty, I didn’t realise you was in the dining hall” a straight up lie I know. “Somethings off Lexi you can’t lie to me I know you to well, I can feel it, it hurts Lexi” his eyes now saddened “I can’t explain it but..” he pauses thinking of his next words “it hurts that you run off everytime we are in a room together, like you take a piece of me each time” does he know, I’m looking in his eyes and he’s confused to why he is feeling this way, it must be the mate bond pulling him to me, I hate seeing him so sad. “It’s not like that Ty I just have a lot going on the next few days, not that I’m hiding or running from you, just a lot on the hand over, things will settle and I’ll be able to spend more time with you again” I say and smile trying to ease the pressure “ yeah and soon I’ll be your Beta so we can spend lots of time together” he smiles “maybe or maybe you’ll find your mate and not want to see me cos you will be to busy with her” I say questioning how he feels about having a mate “my loyalty will always be with you Lexi you are family, and my Luna but yes I may get busy with my mate” he chuckles “right I’m off to bed see you in the morning Luna” he makes his exit and I still don’t say a word. He doesn’t want us as a mate he thinks I’m just family and Luna, oh this is going to hurt, how can I stand being rejected by my future beta.
