Victoria's POV
I was kind of surprised I didn't see Judes car in the parking lot when I got to work this morning. He always beats me. Yesterday was hard for him. Talk about a crash and burn. I thought the door to the offices was sound proof. But I could clearly hear Jude yesterday yelling at his ex. What a crazy b***h she was. Flirting with Johnnie? Ew! Don't mind me I just threw up in my mouth a little bit. When he walked past me I could see the pain in his eyes even though his face was stone cold and emotionless. I had hesitated to follow him but when I heard the banging coming from the locker room I knew I had to talk to him. When I entered the locker room his locker and the one next to it both had new dents in them. He's standing at the sink and his face is dripping. He grabbed a paper towel and buried his face in it before looking up and realizing I'm standing there. We had a long talk and went back to work. I vowed to distract him for the whole day and I definitely succeeded. He was actually laughing. Let me tell you, his laugh is that deep velvety masculine, melts your soul and panties kind of laugh. After hearing it once I knew I needed to hear it again and again.
I'm standing in the locker room putting my things in my locker and I'm distracted by memories of his laugh yesterday.
"Hey." comes from behind me. What the hell? I didn't even hear the door! Thanks for the heart attack.
Jude.
He looks rough. There are bags under his flat green eyes. Even though his hair is wet and he smells of soap, I can smell a hint of whiskey on his breath.
After restarting my heart I decided it's best not to comment and ask him about his night instead. It made me sad and proud of him for cancelling all the wedding s**t. I hope he gets his money back.
Jamie is cool. She's about twenty eight, and has two kids with her husband. She's worked here for almost six years and absolutely loves her job. Honestly it's kind of awkward. I wish I could just work with Jude. Now I have to learn a new station and Judes way over there. Bella and Toni are cool. We've been laughing and sharing stories. But my eyes keep wondering over to Jude. He's got his music playing in his ear buds and is totally lost in his work. I can't help but feel bad for him. He's such a nice and funny guy.
"If I was into guys, I'd be staring too." Toni says next to me.
"I wasn't staring." I lamely lie. "He just looks so sad."
"Yeah it's a shame. The good girls who'd treat him right are distracted by d**k heads or they're stuck on the side lines watching a stupid slut distract him." she says continuing her work.
"That was beautiful." I tell her, stealing one last glance at Jude.
Toni giggles and her watch starts beeping." Finally! lunch time." she says dropping the items in her hands.
I slowly finish the order I'm working on, keeping Jude in the corner of my eye. He doesn't seem to notice it's time for a break.
After wasting as much time as I can he hasn't even looked up from what he's doing. I decide to approach him.
"Jude?" I say as I walk up to him.
Nothing.
"Hey, Jude." I say a little louder as I get closer.
Still nothing.
I'm now standing right behind him
"Oh Jude!" I almost yell.
He can't hear me.
He moves backwards suddenly as I step forward to tap his shoulder. The end result is our nose are almost touching when he finally turns around. f**k those green eyes.
You're married Victoria. Dammit behave!
"Are you working through lunch?" I ask him, slightly startled by the closeness. He's caught off guard too I can see it in his face.
Oops, personal space Victoria!
"Uhh, no?" he asks me.
"I wouldn't let you even if you were planning to do something so crazy." I giggle and make the crazy motion with my finger next to my head.
"Yeah I don't work for free." he says as he stretches from sitting for so long.
I'm unprepared when his shirt lifts up with his arms, revealing his perfect abs. My breath hitches and I'm instantly memorized and my mind is flooded with naughty images of my fingers and tongue gliding over his skin.
"Well, if you're done eye f*****g me, I'm famished." he laughs at me. I'm totally busted, how freaking embarrassing? I feel my cheeks heat up and do the only thing I can think of, I tell him to shut up and run the f**k away.
I can hear him laughing as I shove my way down the hall.
I run into the locker room and catch a glimpse of myself in the mirror. Holy hell! I didn't know my cheeks could reach that level of red! Not to mention a lot of my hair has fallen out of my hair tie and is sticking out Madusa style. I quickly run cold water over my face and redo my hair before grabbing my lunch from my locker.
As I reach the door it comes open and Jude walks in. He wiggles his eyebrows at me and starts laughing again.
Dammit Victoria!
Jude finds me in the break room. I can't even look at him as he sits down.
"What the heck Victoria? You can check me out but not wait for me?" He jokes pulling food from his lunch box.
"Oh my God!" I exhale slamming my head on the table.
"Don't worry Victoria. I appreciate you appreciating my V." He laughs again "V for Victoria!"
"Oh my God no!" I'm mortified as he continues to laugh at my embarrassment.
"Keep laughing at me and you're going to choke." I say still unable to look up from the table.
"Oh don't worry V. I rather make you choke." He says.
"OH NO! STOP!" I beg. I can not believe he just said that!
Jude continues to giggle through out all of lunch. I'm so embarrassed I can't look anywhere but at the table. This is not how I expected to spend lunch today. How did this happen?
My watch beeps indicating lunch is over. I thank baby Jesus and grab my stuff before taking off out of the break room. Judes laugher chasing me out.
The rest of the day I can hear Jude giggles. I can't believe he said those dirty things. I can't believe he is still laughing at me either.
When it's finally time to go home I'm in the locker room grabbing my stuff. The door opens and my ears are instantly met with giggling. Judes giggling to be exact. As lovely as the sound it's annoying he's laughing at me. STILL.
"Big plans for your weekend V?" He asks, failing to suppress his giggling.
Oh! No! You are NOT calling me that!" I say turning my whole body to face him.
"Nope I like it and it's stuck. It's your name now" he says opening his locker.
"Nooo, Juuude!" I whine closing my locker.
I give him my biggest puppy dog's eyes pouting out my bottom lip.
Jude stares at me for a a minutes his eyes darting between mine and my bottom lip.
"Nope. V's your name now." he declares before shutting his locker.
"Damn." I cave, I won't admit it but I love he gave me a nick name. I've never had one before. People tried calling me Vicky when I was younger but Thanks to Fairly Odd Parents I had to squash that quick!
Ain't no one going to call me Icky Vicky.
"Well it's just me and the kids cleaning house this weekend." I tell him dreading it
"What about you?" I really hope he isn't planning on sitting home drinking all weekend.
"I'm actually headed home to see my parents." he says opening the door and holding it open for me.
"Well, that sounds like fun." I say then remembering I know nothing about him, "Right?" I add just in case it's not his ideal weekend plans.
" Yeah, it'll be good to go home." he says rubbing his chin.
We clock out and he walks me to my car.
"Have fun." I tell him unlocking my door.
"You too." he says looking at my mouth again.
"See you Monday?" I ask, unsure if he'll be back by then or not.
"See you Monday V." he says with a wink before walking away.
