Kaliyah's POV
Kovu’s massive form hurtled toward me like a blazing comet, his claws stretching out and glinting wickedly under the light of the moon.
Time seemed to slow down significantly as I watched the claws slashing toward my head. I barely had a moment to react, but in the nick of time, my instincts took over, fueled by the mana. I twisted my body just in time, the claws grazing past where my head had been only a fraction of a second earlier.
Kovu crashed into the ground, and I rolled to the side, using the momentum to get back on my feet. We both stood up and locked eyes. All I could see in those eyes was burning hatred.
