Ok so I know yall are thinking Im messed up for walking up to that man and speaking to him after Adrienne was being all shy. But I just wanna make a couple things clear. Even though Adrienne has the same tan skin as us she is always standoffish to men of color. I think its because her mama is white. Im not for sure but I'm kinda sure that's the reason. If I wouldnt have walked up there first we woulda never known dudes name an he woulda been all we heard about for months. This way at least I broke the ice for them if they ever run into each other again. And I have a feeling they are going too.  So lemme tell you a little bit about me. My name is Tehari and I'm 17 years old. My mama, Corrine, dropped me off to my granny when I was a baby and never came back for me. Some people say I have mommy issues. Some say I have daddy issues & my granny says both.  I'm not even gonna lie to you Benz was fine as hell. But I would never pursue anyone my homegirl was into. We don't get down like that in the city. And I know exactly why Adrienne liked him. It was that deep raspy voice. I just know her panties was wet an she had to change them when she got home. He seemed like the typa man to find a project chick an move her up out the hood. And Lord knows we all needed one of them.  "Hey granny, Im home." I said walking in the kitchen. "Hey baby, how was school today?" She said sitting down in her chair at the kitchen table. "It was the same as it was yesterday. Except this morning Adrienne met someone." "Oh yea? What do you mean she met someone?" She asked looking me up an down.  Now yall just because my granny was in her 60's does not mean ANYTHING. She still hopped off the porch if she needed too. "She met this new guy in town I guess. We've never seen him before." "And what's his name?"  "I think he said Benz or something like that. Why granny do you know him" "No baby, I'm just being nosey. You know Granny ain't got no life no more." She said smiling at me.  "Granny, I love you. You really are my best friend. I don't need no mama when I got you." We hugged an I went to my room to do my homework. Graduating was the most important thing to me in the world. I was gonna make something of myself and get us out the projects. One day.
