24 Max stalked toward the tower; his fists clenched and his magic at the ready. The Shifters were gone, as were the fake red eyes in the Downs. He searched the base of the tower for a hidden opening, but quickly realized he'd have to climb. The windows above were more narrow up close. Their wooden frames showed their age and had crumbled away. They didn't appear to be strong enough to hold anything more than a dust ball. Max threw his magic into the uppermost window, then wrapped the rope tightly around his hand. He jumped at the tower with both feet and expected to crash to the ground or hit solid stone, but his feet kept going. He slipped right through the tower.
