2 Milo crept out from behind the shrubs and gaped at the destruction. There was barely anything left to tell that it was once a community. With the exception of one free standing wall, Pleasant Seas had been leveled to the ground. The late afternoon breeze ruffled his hair and the smell of burnt wood came with it. It was so strong it made his eyes water and tickled the back of his throat. Something creaked behind him. He shuddered and held his breath. Every nerve in his body came alive. He slowly turned around and looked across the street to the cemetery. A sign at the gate swayed back and forth. “It's just a sign. There's nothing there,” he muttered to himself.
