CHAPTER 6: WALK

1449 Words
The days passed quickly with extra homework and detention. It was Friday and I was wandering around the corridors to look for Zach or Fenella because it was my free lesson and I had no class afterwards. I haven't seen them since morning. I walked down the corridor going towards the Cafeteria and I turned my face got hit by a stone wall, except it wasn't a stone wall. It was Jude f*****g Aldrich. "Great, just the face I wanted to see right now." I muttered as I tried to slide past him but I guess today wasn't my lucky day because he blocked my path. "Was that supposed to be a compliment?" He smirked looking down at me. "Definitely not." I gave him a fake smile and pushed him lightly so that I could walk past him but instead he just started walking with me. "Seemed like a compliment to me," He said with a smug smile plastered on his face. Damn, I hated his perfect face. Why he has to be so goddamn attractive? "Whatever floats your boat Aldrich," I entered the cafeteria and suddenly all eyes were on me. It took me a second to realise that it was because Jude was walking beside me. I mentally rolled my eyes. Jude wasn't fazed with all the stares he was getting and why would he, after all he was used to it since he was the most popular guy in school. I sat at one of the empty table and Jude sat in front of me. "What are you doing here by the way? He asked. "I have a free lesson." I replied and took out my phone and texted Zach, asking him where he is. I instantly got a reply. Zach: In class, meet you in fifteen minutes in Canteen. Great, fifteen minutes of torture. I put the phone back in my pocket. "I have a free lesson too, what do you have in mind?" Jude got all excited. "I am waiting for Zach and Fenella. Zach is supposed to drive me home and I haven't seen Fenella and him since morning." "I could drive you home." Jude said sounding a bit hurt which I found was rather sweet, "You are my neighbour after all." "I know that," I shrugged "It's actually Zach's sister's birthday and he asked us to help him find a present for her. He has no idea what to buy a five year old for a present." "That's lame." Jude snorted, "Fenella can help him with that." "It's more than just buying a gift. We all have been busy for the past few days and we just want to hang out together. It will be my first hangout here." I replied honestly and I could actually see his ghost of a smile. Jude was about to say something when he was cut off by a very annoying voice. "Hey Judie," Melina said as she came towards our table and sat down next to him with glancing at me. "Hey Melina," Jude greeted her casually and gave me a sweet smile. She might have noticed that because she started touching him everywhere which made my really uncomfortable. "So, I am throwing a party tomorrow night and I want you to be there." She said. Jude nodded and just then I saw Zach and in a flash I was up gathering my belongings which wasn't much. "I'll see you later Jude." With that I half ran towards Zach and hugged him tightly. "Whoa! I have a girlfriend." He joked hugging me back. "Oh, she wouldn't mind." I said chuckling and we both started making our way out of the school. "I saw you sitting with Jude and Melina." He said. "Yeah, I was looking for you guys and Jude kind of tagged along and later Melina came and started saying about a party she was throwing." I rolled my eyes. "Yeah, I know. We are invited to her party." He said, "Like I care." "That b***h pretended like I didn't exist and kept touching Jude." Zach gave me a funny look, "Are you jealous?" I gave an unattractive snort, "No, I am not jealous. I was just telling you what really happened." "What happened?" It was Fenella who was standing near Zach's car. I quickly hugged her. "Andra's jealous because Melina was touching Jude." Zach said putting a hand on her shoulder. "I am not jealous." I exclaimed. "Stop teasing her," Fenella said and I was about to thank her when she added, "Let her be jealous in peace." I slapped Fenella on her shoulder, "I thought you were on my side." "I am." She said smiling sweetly and some seconds we all started laughing. I really missed them. "Come on help me get my sister a beautiful birthday gift." Zach said getting in his car. "He did not even open the door for us."I pouted and Fenella chuckled. "Allow me, ma'am." She bowed dramatically and opened the passenger's door for which was a really sweet gesture of telling me that she actually considers me a good friend and didn't wants to make me feel left out. "Thank you, kind sir." I said and sat inside. She closed the door and sat at the back seat putting her head in between. "Maybe you guys should start dating." Zach teased. "Maybe we should." Fenella said and we all started laughing as Zach drove out of the parking lot. __$__$__$__ I had a great time shopping day, it was fun. We decided to buy a beautiful dollhouse for his sister. Later we went to have some really good burgers and I enjoyed every minute with them. I am starting to think that leaving New York was good for me after all. My eyes widen as I remembered that I still haven't called my best friends Trevor and Nina. So, instead of going home I went to a park which was not really far away. I sat on the swing dangling slowly and took out my phone. I made a call to Trevor, because he was always easy to talk to. He picked up in the first ring as if expecting a call. "Look who rose from the dead." He announced without waiting for me to greet him. "Hey Trevor," I said as sweetly as possible, "Sorry for being late, I've been busy." "So we figured." He said, "Wait, let me add Nina on the call." After a while Nina spoke, "Trevor?" "Hey," I said and braced myself from what was coming next. "Look who f*****g rose from the dead." She sounded pissed and I took a deep breath as Trevor snorted. "Sorry girl, wished I could have called sooner." I apologized. "I thought you were dead or something." I explained everything to them, about school, about Zach and Fenella and how they helped me, about food fight and detention and about Jude being my annoying neighbour. "Jude, you say?" Nina said and I could imagine her wriggling her eyebrows, "I have this feeling he is hot." You have no idea Nina, but that's not what I said instead I just grunted, "He is just plain annoying." "How's everything there?" I asked them after a while. "You know same old." Trevor said without adding anything. I know he was avoiding talking about school and all. I didn't push him. After talking some more, I hung up the call and took a deep breath. I felt good talking to them after so long. Suddenly I felt someone gently pushed my swing. I looked behind ready to punch the guy but I relaxed when I saw it was Jude. "What are you doing here?" I stood up looking at him. "It's a park Andra, anyone can come here." He said matter-of-factly. I was feeling sleep so I didn't say anything and just nodded and started walking back towards home. Jude started walking with me. "You took tired." He said with a hint of concern. "No, I am just sleepy." "Do you want to me to pick you up princess?" He asking grinning at me but I gave him a blank look and he laughed. "What were you doing in the park?" I asked again. "I came here for a jog and then I saw you." He said but I wasn't really listening. My eyes were literally dropping. Jude took a hold of my forearm and a shiver ran down my spine but I didn't complain. "You really need sleep." He muttered and I chuckled. I was happy that he was acting all caring but in the end he is still a bad boy, the kind I'd rather stay away from. A few seconds later we reached home and I was so happy. "Good night Jude." I said gently pulling my arm from his grip. "Good night." He gave me an unexpected side hug. I entered my room and went straight to my room and crashed on my bed. I caught a glimpse of Jude coming in his room but I didn't care and I didn't even have the strength to close my window.
