I walked downstairs all dressed and ready to leave for school. I was a bit early because I thought I might walk to school since I will get my car on Sunday and dad is not home to drop me off to school. I hate public transport, so it's better to just walk.
I saw my mother cooking breakfast when I entered kitchen. She was all chirpy and I smiled instantly.
"Good Morning Andie," Mom said, "You're up early."
"Good morning Mom." I kissed her on the cheek and sat on one of the kitchen table, "I could ask you the same. I have school, what's your excuse?"
"I just wanted to make breakfast for my daughter." She said and I just nodded.
"What are you making?"
"Pancakes," She smiled serving me pancakes on my plate. My mom is an excellent cook in the entire world. Sure, she is lazy and does not cook most of the time but when she does it's always amazing.
I started eating pancakes in silence and suddenly mom started asking me questions.
"How's school?" She asked as she sat in front of me as she poured me a glass of water.
"School's good," I smiled a little. I know what she is trying to do. She does not want to repeat the same mistake as she did back then. She does not want to be an absent mother again. The thing is, she never was an absent mother. I was the one who pushed her away. It was never her fault.
"What about your friends?"
"Zach and Fenella, they are good too."
"What about Jude?" She asked and I stopped eating for a second, "Is he not your friend?"
"I wouldn't really call us friends but yeah we do talk sometimes." I said honestly. I wonder if he even considers me as his friend. He has enough friends already.
My mom looked at me but didn't ask further and that's the thing I loved about her. She knew when to stop the conversation.
I finished my last bite of the pancake and got up.
"The pancakes were awesome. Please start cooking often." I said and she chuckled, "I'll see you after school."
I kissed her on the cheek again and walked out of the home. I started walking down the lane towards school and as I was about to plug in my earphones I heard someone call my name. I turned to see Jude on his bike looking way hotter with his wet messy hair.
"Good morning Andra," He stopped his bike in front of me.
"Good morning," I said, "You're up early."
"Basketball Practice and all," He replied shrugging his shoulders and I nodded before I started walking again.
"Andra," He called again, "Where are you going?"
"School, duh." I rolled my eyes. I already wasted my time talking to him.
"Hop on the bike, I'll drop you." He said and I was taken aback. He was asking me to sit at the back of his bike. I mean, it was tempting and it would take time for me to reach school and by that time I will already be late.
"Tick-Tick Andra," He said impatiently.
"Okay," I said after a while making my way towards him, "Don't let me fall."
"Don't worry babe, you'll fall for me anyway." He had a satisfied grin on his face.
"I doubt it" I said as I climbed at the back seat.
"Hold on tight baby." With that we head towards school at full speed.
The school was ten minutes far but I swear it felt like an eternity. Jude was driving way to too fast and I think he broke one or two signals on the way.
"Andra," I heard Jude's concerned voice and I looked up and saw that I was still holding him tightly, "Are you okay?"
I released him gently and got off his bike regaining myself again. That was definitely one hell of a ride.
"Yeah," I said after a while, "That was fast."
He chuckled, "It wasn't that fast."
I gave him a blank look, he was kidding right? He just smirked at my reaction.
"Right," I said, "Anyway, thank you for dropping me. I'll see you later I guess."
I started walking before he could reply but instead he just started walking with me.
"Our first class is together."
Great!
We entered the school together making our way towards the class.
"So, you are coming to the party tonight?" He asked casually, so casually that it made me angry but I controlled it.
"No," I said blandly but I think it came out a little harshly because I felt him stiffen beside me and that made me felt bad, "I mean, I don't like parties."
He didn't say anything, just nodded giving me a sideway glance and with that we silently walked to our class.
__x__x__x__
The whole day went by a blur. I didn't see Jude after English class, not like I care or anything.
I sat in front of Fenella and Zach in cafeteria along with my food.
"I heard that you came to school on Jude's bike today." Fenella said taking fries from my plate.
"Yeah," I frowned, "So?"
"Andra, Jude has never been seen with a girl on his bike before." Fenella smiled, "You're the first one."
I scoffed, "Am I supposed to feel special?"
"I mean there are rumours about how you are into Jude and how you tricked him into giving you a ride." Zach said laughing silently. They both were finding it amusing.
"Nonsense, Jude's the one who offered to drop me to the school and I am sure he was just being polite because I am his neighbour."
"This is going to piss Melina off," Fenella said eating my fries casually. I just rolled my eyes at her childishness.
"ANDRA STANFORD," A piercing voice said.
"Looks like god heard me," Fenella said looking at me. She's such a fan of drama. It's hard to keep a straight face around her.
Melina came at our table and stood with two other girls behind her.
"I need to speak with you in private." She demanded.
Fenella was ready to burst but I cut in by saying, "Whatever you have to say you can say right here."
She pressed her lips together, clearly pissed that I wasn't intimidated by her.
"Fine," She tapped her foot impatiently. "I saw you with Jude today, on his bike."
"It's lovely to see that your eyes work." I gave a sarcastic smile. Fenella snickered and Zach just straightened up.
"Stay away from Jude." She stated, "He's mine."
"He's a person, not a toy." I replied.
"He is my toy and you know what happens to those who mess with my toy?"
I raised an eyebrow, "You drown them in a pool of glitter?"
Fenella laughed but hide it with fits of cough and so did Zach. They were clearly enjoying this.
"Very funny," She mocked, "Worse, I destroy them."
"Oh, we are scared." Fenella said faking a shiver and I chuckled.
"You better be." Melina flipped her hair literally at one of the girl's face who was standing behind her, "Now that we made ourselves clear..."
"Did we?" I interrupted her but she ignored me.
"You are invited to my party." She said smiling like a devil, "Take it as a pity invitation."
"Will there be a pool of glitter?" I said and all three of us started laughing.
She grunted but didn't say anything and walked away from our table with her minions trailing behind her.
"Damn girl that was one hell of a show." Fenella wiped away the tear from the corner of her eyes. I chuckle, nodding my head.
"So anyway, since we are all going to Melina's party..." Zach started.
"I am not." I raised my voice shaking my head gently.
"Why?" Fenella demanded, "Don't let that b***h's words get into your head."
"It's not that," My palm became sweaty which only happens when I am nervous "I don't like parties."
"Andra, party means free alcohol and I really want to get drunk." Fenella said, "I don't want to go without you, it is the first time that I have ever befriended a girl and actually liked her."
"I know what you are trying to do Fen. I am not falling for it." I warned her and looked at Zach for some help.
"I want you to come with us too." He said.
"Traitor," I accused him but he just shrugged.
"Listen to me," Fenella started, "We just want to get drunk, you can come as our designated driver and we will leave whenever you want. Cool?"
"As a driver huh?" I muttered.
"You know what I mean."
"Fine." I said and they both jumped in excitement. Guess I am going to a party. It will be a disaster.
