CHAPTER 5: DETENTION

"Who started this?" Mr. Osborn asked looking at everyone. Jude was standing there next to me unfazed as if nothing happened. I couldn't even guess what he was thinking because his face was blank.

I was so lost in my train of thoughts that I didn't even realized when someone stood in front of me. I looked to see Mr. Osborn looking directly at me with a disappointing look on his face.

"Care to tell me who started this Miss Stanford?" Why me? I wasn't even involved. I gave a sideway glace at Jude who was still standing there staring at me with a blank look.

I could've just told Mr. Osborn the truth and get over with it but I don't know what came over me.

"I don't know sir. We were just sitting and eating our food then all of a sudden there was a food fight. It happened so fast." I muttered as I looked at my feet then back at him. He looked really angry and disappointed.

"Mr. Aldrich, do you have anything to say?" He turned to look at Jude who stared right back at him.

"No sir. I believe I don't." He said.

Mr. Osborn was deep in thoughts the he said, "Fine, I guess a week's detention will be enough for all of you."

There were hushed whispers. f**k my life, I mean second day of school I somehow ended up in a food fight and now a week's detention. Great, Fenella was right. Jude and his friends are troublemakers.

"Sir, we didn't do anything, it was Fenella." There were group of girls who were pointing at her. I wanted to punch them.

"Miss Anderson, is that true?" Mr. Osborn looked at her. Fenella caught my eye for a second before glancing back at the principal.

"Sir, it was Melina who threw pizza at us." Another group of girls said pointing at the blond duck face who has a name now, and then the whole canteen was saying names like 'It was Chris's fault' or 'it was Noah who did it' or 'Jude threw a piece of cake at me'. I looked at Jude who was beyond pissed now.

"QUIET!" Our principal yelled and everyone stopped talking at once.

"I am very disappointed in all of you." He said taking a deep breath then added, "Miss Fenella Anderson, a week's detention."

Fenella didn't say anything but I know she raging with anger right now. Some students involving Jude and his friends started making their way out.

"Not so fast," Mr. Osborn said stopping them "Mr. Jude Aldrich, a week's detention."

I heard him sigh then he nodded. Mr. Osborn started naming students who will be there for detention. Turned out Jude's gang, Fenella, Zach, Melina got detention for a week. You know the funny part about it was that even I got detention and I didn't even do anything wrong but I know argument won't take us anywhere, so I just accepted my punishment.

I walked inside my detention class and saw that everyone was already present, signing the detention sheet I walked towards Fenella and Zach who were sitting not so far away from Jude and his friends.

My heart started beating faster as I made eye contact with Jude because his face showed no emotion and it scared me. He was staring at me blankly and very slowly I walked towards Fenella and Zach who were sitting together so I sat on the seat that was behind them. Jude and his friends were sitting diagonally. I looked down avoiding eye contact with any of them.

Our teacher in detention gave us a sheet to write 'why  discipline is important' then left us. I kept staring at my sheet until I felt a presence beside me and I looked up to see Jude sliding next to me with a blank look still plastered on his face. My heart started beating frantically as I waited for him to speak.

"You didn't had to do that." He finally said turning in his seat, so he could face me.

"What do you mean?" I questioned perplexed at his statement. 

"Take the blame for us, you could've easily blamed us." He said and my eyebrows scrunched up in confusion. He is angry with me because I took the blame on my head? Seriously, this guy is impossible.

"Well, for your information I didn't took the blame. I just said that I didn't saw anything."

"Well then you didn't really had to lie for us." He raised his right eyebrow. I narrowed my eyes at him. Is he really gonna argue me on that?

"I didn't really lie...I mean we were involved and lie or not, we are here in detention anyway." I reasoned with him but somehow I knew this wasn't the real reason he was pissed.

I heard Melina scoff, "She just wants to show how good she is."

"Well maybe you should try that once in a while." Fenella said not so nicely. Everybody laughed except Melina who just sulked.

"Look Jude, just stop getting pissed at this stupid thing. So, one detention...big deal." I said matter-of-factly "What's done is done."

He took a deep breath maybe apprehending that this was a stupid thing to take out his anger on.

"Yeah...I am sorry, I just, well..." He was having trouble explaining himself so I just teased him.

"Is the bad boy apologising?"

"Don't get used to it." He chuckled.

"I'll try," I smiled.

Seeing that everything was okay everybody heaved a sigh including me.

"You know what, we haven't even introduced us to the new girl and since our first meeting was not quite nice." Chris said, "So, hi I am Christian Lockett and it is nice to meet you and welcome to this hell."

I laughed, "Nice to meet you Chris."

Chris had this perfect blond locks and sea green eyes and he was pretty charming too but I heard from Fenella that he is a womaniser and a bit of a prankster.

"I am Noah Wright." Noah said giving me a smirk.

"I am Tyler Blackmond and it is pleasure to meet you." Tyler said, he seemed the sweetest in the whole group.

"I am Liam Thomson and I think you and I should be together." He said smirking rather confidently. I chuckled nervously and I could practically sense Fenella that she was about to say something, so I quickly added.

"Pleasure to meet you and I will think about us being together." I said to which Jude snickered. and I gave him a glare which didn't really fazed him.

"Melina? shouldn't you be introducing yourself too?" Zach said pretending to be serious.

Melina was looking at her nails and rolled her eyes but after a while she said, "I'm Melina Hale..."

"And I open my legs in front of all the male species." Noah mimicked her making everybody laugh. Chris and Noah high-fived and I just gaped at his choosen words.

"And you enter in every female species." Fenella rolled her eyes at him. I stifled a laugh. Crazy...that's what they are.

"Haven't entered in you yet." Noah said looking lustfully at her to which Fenella made a gagging noise.

"That's my girlfriend." Zach scowled.

"Oh you are no fun Zachary."

I thought I would never say this but detention was fun. I actually enjoyed everybody's company except Melina ofcourse. We laughed throughout the detention and forget about detention sheets in front of us but that was okay.

For once I actually think that things might turn up pretty differently but Fenella's word rang in my ears that they all were nothing but troublemakers and that's the kind of people I was supposed to stay away from but somehow with them I don't really think about about my past and I hope that was okay.
