Chapter Ten

530 Words
Sam was getting impatient. To him, time was moving too slow. He kept looking at his watch, waiting for six o'clock to come but time was moving slow. He had returned to his hotel sometime after four after getting some more work done on Mr. James' computer system. It had taken him no less that 20 minutes to shower and change. He had been waiting for five thirty since then. Jessica had given Sam her address and told him to be there at six that day. After talking the day before, she had agreed to introduce him to her mother and most importantly their daughter. He simply couldn't wait any longer. But Jess needed time to prepare everyone first. He would wait another few minutes. Sam looked at his watch again. He sighed. Just five minutes had passed. He shook his head, got up and grabbed the key to the rental. He hoped Jess had done her preparations in record time because he couldn't wait any longer. He got in the car and started the short drive to Jessica's address. An address he knew by heart since that was where he had taken his picture evidence.  Sam pulled up to the entrance of the house in which Jessica and her family lived. He parked behind her car in the driveway. He decided to wait another few minutes in the car.  Sam was on pins and needles and couldn't wait to get inside. He could hardly believe how excited he was to meet the little girl he was going to call his daughter. The fact that Jess was her mother was like icing on the cake. He had really felt for her that night he met. He had found himself not only attracted to her but very comfortable as well.  Sam had shared so much about his life with her. He had never done anything like that before. Not with any of the women he had dated. In fact he hadn't dated a woman he had wanted to tell any part of his story to. He had just felt that was something he would never do unless he found the one who would be his partner for life. He just hoped that now he had found her he could get to know her even better and they could get something going between them. Jess had touched something in him that had made him want to be different. Become a better person than he already was. He wasn't wicked, or cruel, or even a womanizer, but he still wanted to be better for Jess.  That thought should have scared him, but like the first time he thought it, he felt anything but. In fact he felt like having her in his life would somehow complete him. He felt settled.  As a matter of fact, Sam had been planning on finding a way to ask her out regardless of the conflict he knew they would have. He had been wondering how to get pass the fact that she was pretending not to know him. Now he just needed a new game plan.  You know what, he thought, I'm just gonna ask her out tomorrow. "I'll do it tomorrow," he said to himself.
