The lights were on in the house when they got there. They followed the sounds of crying to Emily’s room. Suzie was walking back and forth with her in her arms. She was so caught up in what she was doing that she didn’t even notice the two people standing in the doorway at first. As soon as she had turned around and Jessica had stepped into the room she realized that her daughter had come home. “Oh, honey. You didn’t have to,” Suzie said by way of greeting. “She wouldn’t have been happy otherwise,” Sam replied with a smile. Suzie shook her head. “Well I had it handled so you guys could have enjoyed your dinner first.” Jessica took her daughter from Suzie. She settled her into her arms and rocked her. “Hey princess.
