Chapter 4: The Rusty Nail Showdown

1162 Words
The Rusty Nail hummed with a low, throaty growl, the jukebox bleeding a blues track that slunk through the air like fingers on bare skin. Eva pushed through the heavy oak door, leaving the garish neon street behind. The interior was a cavern of shadows and amber light, the air thick with the scent of cheap whiskey, stale beer, and the underlying, sweet-sour tang of human sweat. Her heels stuck faintly to the floor with each step. He was in the back, exactly where she knew he’d be. A corner booth, swallowed by shadow. Caleb. He sat with a stillness that felt like a predator’s patience, a bottle of beer sweating in front of him. His eyes tracked her progress across the room, a dark, unblinking pressure. The bruises on her arm seemed to pulse in recognition. She stopped at the edge of the table. Said nothing. A slow, acknowledging smirk touched his lips. Without a word, he slid her phone across the scarred wood. It stopped perfectly aligned with the table’s edge. Her lifeline. Her vulnerability. She reached for it, her movement swift, decisive. His hand shot out, faster. His fingers wrapped around her wrist, not with the brutal force of the alley, but with an inescapable, firm possession. The touch was electric, a live wire straight to her core. Her breath hitched. “Sit,” he commanded, his voice a low rasp that cut through the music. Every rational cell in her body screamed to grab the phone and run. Her thighs trembled. She slid into the booth opposite him, the ancient vinyl cracking under her weight. The table was a narrow continent between them. He didn’t let go of her wrist. Instead, his thumb began to move, a slow, deliberate stroke over her frantic pulse point. He leaned forward, the shadowed planes of his face coming into the dim light. His breath was hot against her ear, carrying the scent of hops and him. “You came hard in that alley, didn’t you?” The words were barely audible, just a vibration in the space between her jaw and neck. “I could hear you from across the street. That little choked-off scream you tried to swallow.” Shame and fury burned her cheeks. “f**k you.” “That’s the idea.” His free hand moved under the table. It found her knee, then slid upward, pushing at the fabric of her dress. “I want to hear it again. Right now.” Her body betrayed her completely, her legs parting for his invading hand without conscious consent. His fingertips brushed the damp silk of her panties, and a violent shudder wracked her frame. A low, approving sound rumbled in his chest. With his other hand, he guided her captured wrist beneath the table. His grip shifted, positioning her palm. She felt the hard, insistent ridge of his c**k straining against his jeans. He unzipped his fly with a harsh, metallic sound, buried in the dark beneath the table. He freed himself, thick and already fully hard, and wrapped her fingers around his hot, rigid length. “Stroke it, Eva.” His order was a hot whisper against her temple. “Show me how much you want your phone back.” Her fingers closed around him. The skin was like hot velvet over steel. He was already slick at the tip. A bead of moisture smeared under her thumb as she began to move her hand, a slow, tentative pump. His head fell back against the booth, a tendon in his neck standing out in sharp relief. “Faster.” She complied, her own breathing turning shallow. The motion was awkward, constrained by the table, by the public space mere feet away. A bartender clinked glasses. Someone laughed raucously. The surreal normalcy of it all made the secret act feel ten times more obscene. Her palm grew slick with his precum, the friction turning wet, filthy. His hips began to match her rhythm in tiny, desperate thrusts into her fist. Then he moved. His hand left her thigh and went to the back of her head. Not a violent shove, but an undeniable, guiding pressure. “Under,” he gritted out, the word strained. She didn’t fight. She slid down, vanishing beneath the solid wood of the tabletop. It was a dark, private cave smelling of old beer and dust and him. The world above became muffled sounds and dim, filtered light through the bench slats. He guided himself to her lips. She opened her mouth, taking the swollen head inside. The taste of him, salt and bitter musk, flooded her senses. She heard his choked groan from above, felt his hand tighten in her hair. “All of it,” he demanded, his voice tight. She took him deeper, her throat relaxing, opening. She remembered the alley, the helpless surrender, and this was that, but she was also the orchestrator. Her tongue swirled around the thick vein on the underside. She hollowed her cheeks, sucking hard, drawing another ragged gasp from him. His grip in her hair was painful, anchoring. She took him to the root, her nose pressing into the coarse hair at his base, her throat working around him. She could feel the frantic tension coiling in his body through the trembling of his thighs against hers. “I’m gonna… f**k, Eva…” His warning was a broken mutter. She didn’t pull away. She locked her eyes on the shadowed shape of him in the dark, took him deeper, and hummed. The vibration tore the climax from him. He came with a guttural, stifled cry, his hips bucking up into her mouth. Hot, bitter spurts hit the back of her throat. She swallowed convulsively, once, twice, taking every pulsing jet until he was spent, twitching, and soft. She lapped gently at the sensitive tip, cleaning him, before finally pulling away. She emerged slowly, the world coming back into focus. Her lips felt swollen, used. She smoothed her dress, meeting his gaze. His eyes were black, satiated, watching her with a new, deep calculation. A satisfied smirk played on her own mouth. She wiped the back of her hand across her lips. He zipped himself up, never breaking eye contact. Then he picked up her phone, gave it a casual glance, and tossed it to her. She caught it against her chest. “Same time tomorrow,” he said, his voice back to that calm, dangerous rasp. He took a long swig of his beer, as if they’d just discussed the weather. “Don’t be late.” She stood on unsteady legs, the phone a cool, hard rectangle in her damp palm. She didn’t answer. She turned and walked out, feeling his eyes on her back every step of the way, through the sticky air and the slinking blues and out into the neon glare. The chapter was over, but the story was just heating up.
