All the inhabitants aimed their weapons at the Neo X group.
“Great, now we’re surrounded. Where are Snow and Slavik? We need them,” Suse said, looking around cautiously.
“We don’t have time to call them, Neo 4. I can endure the pain from the shot,” F16 commented, looking at Felix.
“Take care of them. I’ll keep an eye on the lord of flames,” F16 ordered as he pulled the bullet out of his shoulder.
“You didn’t need to tell me, I was already planning to. Give me three seconds.” Suse stepped forward, her shining katana dazzling.
“Die!” the creature said as it fired.
Bam!
As soon as she heard the shot, Suse changed the number in her eyes from 44 to 100, slicing the bullet in half with her katana.
The girl didn’t waste time and began to accelerate, shifting the frames from 100 to 150.
“One second,” the girl thought, starting to cut down several of those who were supposed to be the inhabitants of NN.
“Two seconds.”
She moved to the left, taking down three more opponents in an instant.
They weren’t even able to see her approach; for someone who didn’t know Suse’s ability, fighting her was a death sentence.
“Kill her!” one of the XCP shouted, beginning to fire.
Most of them did the same, surrounding the girl with bullets ready to kill her.
“Three seconds,” the girl added in her mind as she raised the number in her eyes to 200.
In just a single second, several slashes burst forth from Suse’s hands, cutting through the bullets along with their owners.
“Done. I can’t do any more for now,” Suse said as she moved back toward the group, lowering the numbers in her eyes to 30.
In just three seconds, she had defeated fifty of the XCP.
“Wow, that’s what I call showing off,” Lin said, still on alert.
“Great, now they’re thinking about killing us all,” Felix spoke, still lying on the ground.
F16’s supervision limited Felix’s escape options, but he only needed to hold on for a few more seconds and his sister would arrive.
“Attack the others!” another of the town’s inhabitants shouted, firing their weapons at Lin and F16.
“Hey, not so fast,” Lin said, using his claws defensively, deflecting every shot that tried to hit him or F16.
Lin stepped forward, his claws extending as he pierced two attackers before leaping back.
“Hey Suse, are they healing?” Lin pointed out, his tone alarmed.
The fifty she had just defeated were slowly regenerating.
“Mr. F16, we have to get out of here. This is a trap!” Suse said, looking around.
“You’re the villains here. We’re just protecting this city. I don’t know why you won’t let us,” Felix added, his flames slowly rising.
“Are you going to keep preaching? Don’t make me laugh,” F16 replied as he analyzed his options.
He could take the risk and drag the igneous XCP with him, but the SX substance was about to run out.
The best option was to retreat and report to the Association. This mission was no longer within the originally assigned grade.
“We’ll need someone like V8, Agent 1, or Ice to deal with this,” F16 thought as he signaled the other two.
“All right then, it’s time to cause some damage!” Lin shouted as he transformed his legs into bestial limbs.
“Time to go!” he said before making a huge leap. All the inhabitants aimed at him, ready to eliminate him.
But the boy twisted midair and, with his legs pointing upward, propelled himself downward.
He turned his right hand into a massive beastly fist and slammed it into the center of the ground.
Pam!
The sound echoed instantly, and a wall of dust rose into view.
“This won’t end here,” F16 commented as he began to retreat with his group.
“Where do you think you’re going?!” a strong female voice shouted from the distance.
A large chunk of ice grazed F16’s cheek, cutting it.
The smoke from before began to fade as the presence of another sheriff made itself known.
It was Lidia, the sheriff of NN.
“I was wondering if the others came alone, but I didn’t expect to find more rats from that organization.”
Suse went on alert instantly; the woman in front of her was nothing like the ones she had cut down before. She was dangerous.
“Three others? Wait, then… did she run into Jasper and the others?” Lin asked, unable to stop scanning his surroundings.
In response, Suse clenched her teeth in anger and lunged at the sheriff with her eyes set to 180 frames.
“Shaws!”
A s***h was unleashed, but instead of striking Lidia’s neck, it cut through the skeletal body of another XCP.
“Thanks, John. I’ll buy you whisky today,” Lidia said, aiming her weapon at Suse.
Bam!
The ice-reinforced bullet pierced Neo 4’s stomach.
“Neo 4!” F16 shouted. He wanted to intervene, but he couldn’t take his eyes off the man in front of him.
“Hahaha, I have to admit, these ones are actually fun,” the sheriff said as she transformed and drew out her ice whip.
“Ready to die? It’ll only take—”
Pum!
Before she could even finish, a block of ice struck her from behind.
Lidia recognized the ice instantly. It was Jasper’s gray ice.
“Already switching enemies so soon? That makes me sad,” Slavik commented. He was carrying Neo 8 asleep in his right hand.
Behind him stood Jasper, visibly exhausted.
“Son of a b***h, do you think I forgot what happened earlier?” Lidia said angrily.
“I’d love to ask why we’re surrounded by the undead, but there’s no time for that. Do what you have to do, Neo 7,” Slavik said as he charged at Lidia.
“Stop giving me orders, show-off!” Jasper shouted as he propelled himself toward the Neo X team.
Several of NN’s inhabitants tried to shoot him, but he quickly raised an ice wall to shield himself.
“Snow! I thought you were dead,” Suse said as she pushed herself up.
“Luckily not. We need to get out of here,” Jasper replied, looking around.
“Hahaha, you fight better in your attractive form,” Lidia said, landing another blow on Slavik.
Slavik was being completely overwhelmed by Lidia. They couldn’t afford to waste any more time.
“F16, can we take any of them with us?” Jasper asked as he began pulling something from his pockets.
“Thanks for asking. What do you say, Mr. Justice?” F16 asked Felix in a mocking tone.
Felix stayed silent for a few seconds. His flames wavered.
“Yes… I’m sorry,” he finally said, raising a wall of fire between them.
With the SX substance reaching its limit, F16 was forced to retreat.
“That’s a no.”
“All right then.”
Jasper pulled a vial from his pocket. Inside was a blue substance, which he began to ingest.
“Don’t be scared. I’m still not used to it,” Jasper said, raising both hands.
“Reset.”
