Chapter 7
The channeling of energy between the two had not been nearly as taxing as they had imagined. However, pausing near the edge of the forest, both Romulus and Remus were extremely winded. The mental focus it took to maintain correct dispersal and creation of energy outputs over the last few hours was not something they had prepared for.
“Looks like we made it.” Panting heavily, Remus placed his hands on the small of his back as he stretched. “I smell scent marks.” Sniffing through his own doubled-over heavy panting, his clawed hands grasped his knees. “Someone’s been marking these woods.”
Trying to catch his breath, he realized there was something else in the air.
Standing, Romulus plodded towards the direction of the village, his nose to the air.
“You smell that?”
