“The best love is the kind that awakens the soul and makes us reach for more, that plants a fire in our hearts and brings peace to our minds. And that's what you've given me. That's what I'd hoped to give you forever” -Nicholas Sparks
After Daunte's special birthday breakfast of champions and Mira's first encounter with her blessing, they saunter up towards the center of town where the library is located. The Valequin empire is comprised of a few different big cities, but Sommilier is supposedly one of the oldest ones and hopefully that means the library has what they're looking for. The roads are mostly clear, people walk together in clumps of two or three mostly children playing around and finding something to do. Most people are working at this time of day and school is a privilege reserved for the special few. Daunte and Mira are finally within view of the library and she becomes curious looking up at the beautifully carved medival building. The large structure was put together with many different color stones, stained glass, high archading and gargoyles decorating the sides. It loomed ominously over them filling Mira with a sense of both dread and excitement. She quietly wondered what other powers she could possibly posses and what that might mean for her future. She begins to think back on Dauntes encounter with the witch.
"Mira?" She turns to look at Daunte only to meet his stormy grey eyes staring at her with worry written all over. The butterflies prciked to life instananeously and she could feel her face start to heat up.
"Mira, are you okay?" This time he stops and grabs her hands, forcing her to face him head on. This did not help the butterflies at all.
She turned her face away hoping to hide her embaressment.
"I'm okay, I'm just a little nervous thats all."
Daunte lets out a chuckle and slings his arms around her shoulder pulling her close to him.
"You? Nervous? I thought you were more of a stoic than that Mira." His teasing only made her nervousness grow. She felt as if her entire face looked as red as a tomato and all she could do was run away into the library, as far away from his beautiful eyes as she could get.
Daunte tried to catch up to her but after pushing through the two giant mahogany doors he saw no trace of her. Shelves upon shelves of books filled the great room before him and all he could hear was the echo of her footsteps as she fled through the maze of books. Daunte combed his fingers through his golden locks looking dumbfounded at the huge collection of books.
"What did I say?" Nico walks in front of him, having materialized from his arm, and flicks his tail in obvious displeasure. He bounds off disappearing into the maze of shelves.
Daunte begins walking, trying hard to look at the book titles but losing himself in thought instead. Mira is just growing more beautiful by the day. He couldn't help but picture her long black hair playfully flowing in the wind and the way her eyes sparkled when she laughed. He was in so much trouble if he couldn't find a way to confess his feelings to her. Sure they're both young, but that doesn't mean he doesn't know love when he feels it, right?
"Nico!" He could hear her voice echo off the walls somewhere in the distance. He couldn't help but smile when he heard her.
This has to be love. There's no other explanation.
Meanwhile, Mira is focusing on books shes found at some tables towards the back. Someones been researching Valequin history. She picked up one of the books and carefully flipped through the pages, curious to what secrets they may hold.
You could just ask me yourself, ya know? I sigh, So what can you tell me then? About you and my powers? About the blessing I have recieved? She countinued flipping through the pages, for some reason felt like she was being watched, but couldn't know for sure how.
We ARE being watched. Raim let out a low menacing grow. Someone was definitely here. The hair on her arms stood on end and she tried to get a look at her surroundings without tipping off the stranger in the shadows. Her senses were now heightened. Mira could smell so many things, however, the dust collecting everywhere seemed to throw off the scent a little bit so she could'nt pinpoint it exactly. She could also smell Daunte. He smelled like grass after a fresh rain and her heart melted for just a split second. Nico was fidgeting as well while curled up at her feet. He seemed distressed as well, he must know someone else is here too..
"FINALLY!" Daunte let out an exasperated sigh as he stepped into view.
"I have been looking for you every where! And YOU!" He pointed at Nico, who only spared him a small glance before going back to being a lookout. "You are a small, furry, traitor my friend." He huffed out and pulled out a chair.
"Have you found anything yet? What are you reading?" He berated me with questions, only to be answered with a book thumping his chest.
"Oof, really?" He coughed and tried to bat the dust away from his face.
"I haven't found anything yet, so we better get reading." Internally my wolf sighed. He IS cute, but what a dolt.
Mira let out a small chuckle only to bet met with a glare from those gorgeous storm cloud eyes. He sure is cute. She answered her wolf.
