"The fears we don't face become our limits." -Robin Sharma
Hours have passed and Daunte is quietly snoring. He tipped back his chair and put his feet up awhile ago to "read comfier" as he put it but started softly snoring only moments after. Miras face is deeply buried in an old childs book of fairy tales and myths. Somehow she could feel that her wolf was actively watching her read and could feel some kind of emotion from her... maybe amusement? Anyways, the book she was reading was adorable. It reminded her of the kind of book her Mom might've read to her as a small child.
Once upon a time, in a land familar and vast. The Great White Wolves ruled the lands. Their clan comprised mostly of white or grey wolves but had a King that lead as a huge Black wolf instead. The King was kind and fair and ruled the land as justly as he could, bringing peace to all species that shared the land with him. The Great White Wolves worshipped their Goddess, Selene and honored the bonds that she bestowed upon them called 'Mates'. A Wolf would begin to stir within their person once they turn age 13, however their Mate bond would not be known until they turned 18.
The King of The Great White Wolves had found his Mate a beautiful she wolf with Black hair and eyes of the Fae. Her parents, outkasted from their Clan due to their strange Mate bond had lived in the borderlands as farmers. She came into the Kings town to sell vegetables only to find her Mate.
Miras breathe hitched as she read the passage. Purple eyes? She thought it was a little strange but she felt a tinge of excitement from the small conincidence. She let her hand graze the image of the beautiful Wolf Queen before continuing the passage.
The King and Queens love was great and eventually took form in the shape of a small child. The future leader of the clan, a young pup named Rafael. He was a confident and adventurous Pup. He grew up to take pride in his Clan and to love his people dearly. Rafael became famously known has he got older for his hand to hand combat skills and his unusal ability to control Magic like the fae. He like most other wolves honored the mate bond and waited patiently for his fated Queen. Time passed and the Rafael could not find his fated Mate. He traveled far and wide searching and even after years of heartache he refused to give up and take a chosen mate. However, laws required Rafael to be mated before taking the throne, so pressure built up as time passed for him to refuse a chosen mate. In a last ditch effort to find his beloved, Rafael asked the King and Queen to hold a ball and invite ladies of age from all over. He wanted to celebrate the reign of his Father, his future reign, and increase his chances of finding the woman of his dreams. And so it would be, a night for all to remember.
Preparations for the ball were underway and invitations had been sent out to every eligible bachelorette that the Great White Wolves could reach. Meanwhile, Rafael is getting pressured by a she-wolf in particular to make her his chosen mate. A Wolf by the name of Vale. She was a feirce warrior and renowed for her speed and agility on the battle field, a great leader and someone his parents were even fond of. Many thought that they were fated to be mates as Pups and none were more disapointed than Vale herself when the mate bond did not form with Rafael as she came of age.
The time of the ball had come and eligible bachelorettes from every part of the kingdom made their way to the Great White Wolves Castle in hopes that they would become the next Queen. Much to Vales' dismay, Rafael did find his fated mate. A she-wolf from the northern part of the country with carmel skin and silky black hair. Her eyes were chocolate brown that shone golden in the sun-light and her heart was as pure as they come.
Mira gasped and dropped the book, abruptly waking Daunte from his slumber. Tears had quickly pooled in her eyes threatening to spill over any second. Daunte was slow to guage the situation but after looking at Mira he was alert within seconds.
"Mira, whats wrong? What happened?" He asked breathlessly.
Tears had finally started streaming down her face as she answered.
"I saw a picture of my Mom."
