When I found myself approaching Simone’s ward, I could already tell that she was fast asleep. There was no way in hell that she would have been as quiet as she was if she had been awake. Another tell-tale sign, was the fact that there was a middle-aged nurse standing outside of her door. I assumed that it was a nurse whom Austin had managed to find and employ to look after her—her uniform was not the same as the rest of the hospital staff. I wasn’t sure why I had come here, but this was where my body had carried me. But being here was pointless—that was obvious to me. Austin was not here, and Simone was asleep.
