I smile at him as he walks towards me. He walks with so much confidence but who can blame him? He is practically the alpha since his father is almost retiring. His arms' biceps were on displayed to the female student body by the way his white t-shirt fitted tight around them. I could feel all of their eyes throwing daggers my way as he pulled one of my curls gently. I punch his chest playfully, not caring. He chuckles before continuing his walk towards the school entrance. I could not help the smile that kept appearing on my lips. I felt his eyes on me but decided to not acknowledge that small fact. "What's up?" He touched my hand gently, making me look up at him. "Not much. Just want for it to be Friday already." He smirked down at me. "Damn, you are not even excited for the fact that you are finally eighteen." I snorted while taking a hold of my headphones. "I don't really care." I place the strap of the backpack over my shoulder again. "Besides, it's just another typical-" His hand came in contact with my wrist causing a tremendous amount of shivers to run down my spine. I blink up at him. "You cannot tell me that you do not look forward to finally meeting your wolf and, also," he held my gaze as he let go of my wrist. "your mate." I roll my eyes and continue to walk. "That's what I do not want to find. What if he is some jerk that rejects me, Bryce?" "What if he is not? What if he thinks you are the most amazing girl he has ever laid eyes upon and that it bothers him, so damn much, to be as much as three meters away from you?" "What?" I turn around and see him standing a good distance from me. He smirks at me before closing the gap between the two of us and taking my hand in his. I feel the way his fingers interlace with mine. "Let's go to class. The bell is about to ring." He pinches my cheek with his free hand. This is one thing that has not changed ever since his 17th birthday. He still cares and protects me. The heat radiating from his touch is comforting to me. I just follow right behind him as he pulls me into the school. Before we got into the school, he lets go of my hand and turns to face me with a small smile playing on his lips. "Happy Birthday, cool girl." He reached out and messed up my hair earning a glare from me. He chuckles and places his hands into his front pockets. "It's just another day. I'll see you around." I say a bit annoyed and start walking towards my locker. "Hey P." I hear him say behind me and I turn around. "I'll see you tonight." I feel the butterflies in my stomach as I look at him. He smiles at me and I can't help but to flicker my eyes from his eyes to his lips. "I'll see you tonight." I repeat softly. The first bell rings right at that moment making me break eye contact with him. Why can't he be my mate? I am eighteen already. Usually, a person with my age would have had their wolf and would have met their mate. I rush to my locker and grab my stuff for my first class of the day, Art. ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ As lunch time rolls around, I grunt because I keep looking for him to get it over with, yet I don't find him. I did what my mother told me. I literally made eye contact with every single guy in this shithole of a school but the sparks were just not there. I sigh and walk towards the cafeteria. I am contradicting myself too much. I want to find him. Yet, I don't. Usually, I would just go to the library since I was not hungry but today I felt like coming to the cafeteria. I look around the cafeteria as I walk in and smile when I spotted Bryce sitting at a table with his friends. I grab a PB&J and an apple juice and walk towards his table. "Hey Bryce." I smile as he turns around to look at me with a smile on his face that fades away once he takes in the situation. I feel all of his friends look at me with bored eyes. I shifted my weight from one foot to the other, feeling a bit awkward. "Hey." He says while avoiding my eyes. He looks at his friends who were giving him looks. "C-can I sit with you?" I say nervously. Most of them are connected to someone higher up where he belongs. I would be in their group but an omega doesn't hold such a high title in this type of society and my father only works in the pack house thanks to my mother's friendship with the Luna. "Bryce, we gotta go now." A brunette boy says, not letting Bryce answer me. "But we just-" They all started getting up while Bryce looks at them confused. His expression changes to a distant one as he gets up. "Hey, I'll see you around." He walks around me and runs after them as they had already grab their uneaten lunch and left. I bit my lower lip and sit down on the empty table and place my lunch down. "It is great to be sitting here with you all." I start to say under my breath. "I never thought you all could be such assholes." I felt all eyes on me and stopped ranting out loud. I hate being an omega. I brought my sandwich up to my lips and bit down hard on it. As I chew, I look around and, from here, I saw clearly the table that I usually sit on, empty. Oh, I forgot to mention one special detail about this school. I am one of the three omegas in this school. This school is mostly attended by the higher ups in every pack while everyone else goes to human school. I just came here because of "special" circumstances as well as the other two. I look out the window and chew slower as my eyes focus on what was going on. They all had moved outside and were sitting under the big oak tree in the school's yard, eating. My vision was blurred by the unshed tears. I felt a lump forming in my throat. I look away as his eyes met mine and took a gulp of my apple juice to make the lump go away. I keep on eating while avoiding to look in that direction. I bet I look like an i***t sitting there alone thinking that just this once they were being truthful about what they were going to do. I pick up my trash and get up from the table, throwing out my garbage on the way out of the cafeteria and to swim class. I head to the girls' locker room and grab my swim suit from the locker. I went into one of the stalls and, as I was taking my shirt off, I hear the door closing. "Can't she take a hint and leave him alone?" "Why does she always have to be hanging around him like a f*****g bug?" "You know what you do with them, right?" I heard the sound of a clap and the girls' giggles follow. "Did he ask you out yet?" "No, we're talking but all he talks about is-" "Her." "Exactly. What the heck does he see in an Omega anyways? She is not his mate. For all we know, she might end up being mateless at this point." I heard the door opening again. "Jazzily, the coach is asking for you." "Coming." The door closed again. "She won't be much of a bother after a while. Did you hear what her mom-" "Shh. No one is supposed to know, yet." "Right." The girl prolonged her words. Jazzily was the daughter of the Beta and her brother was the one in line to be Bryce's beta under the condition that he finds his mate. If he doesn't find his mate, the spoil brat will be the one in line along with her mate. I wouldn't be surprised if she forced Bryce to be with her and fake being her mate seeing as she has tried every tactic in the book to make him hers. When I hear the door close, I let out the breath that I was holding in the entire time. I quickly change as I hear the whistle being blown. I place my clothes in the locker and walk out to the swimming pool area. My skin was a big contrast to everyone else's. I did not fail to notice that. I hugged myself by placing my hands on my upper arms and lining up by the wall. All my curls bounced around as I tried to keep my eyes on the coach. "Alright, ladies. Today, I need you all to do your best seeing that we have the recruiter for Lucia College here to see you all. He will be evaluating each one of you on your agility and timing. Got it?" The recruiter is just here to take some of us to the werewolf school in England. I really don't want to be chosen. I'm good where I am as of now. We all said at once, "Yes." "Now, hurry get into teams." The teams formed quickly between friends and I could not find any group that would accept me. "Peyton, go with Jazzily and Georgia seeing as they need someone else." I nod and walk towards the girls. Jazzily leans into Georgia and whispers something to her ear as I approach and they both chuckle. I stand awkwardly next to them. "Alright, get into positions." "Alright, I will go first since I swim faster. Then, Georgia goes after and, finally, you." She looks at me and I nod causing a few curls to move forward. We walk to our station and Jazzily gets into position. Once the horn is blown, all the girls dive in and start swimming. Jazzily easily reaches the other end of the pool with two other girls on her tail. Georgia starts to get into position waiting for Jazzily to get to her. When she does, they tap hands and Georgia dives in quickly followed by two other swimmers from the opposing teams. As she is swimming, the door of the swimming pool area opens and in walks Bryce with his friends. His eyes caught mine and I smile at him as he waves a bit without his friends noticing. We have spoken a bit about the way he acts towards me when his friends are around and I do understand that he doesn't want to jeopardize his allies by doing something that goes against the Alpha position such as affiliating too much with an omega. For that reason, he minimizes how much interaction he has with me. I look back to the pool and see that Georgia has reach the end of the pool. Then, I look at Jazzily as I get ready to dive in since she is standing right beside me. She is throwing daggers my way. I get into position as Georgia is about to reach the wall to touch my hand. I stretch out my arm for her to tap it. When she taps my hand, I go to jump in but feel a force holding my right foot back and so I fall head on into the water. Water goes right into my nose. I lightly squeeze it to make the pain go away and open my eyes. I see the other two competitors ahead of me when I look up to the surface of the water. I place my feet against the wall and, push against it, pushing myself forward. I swim as quickly as possible while taking small breaths when I can, even though is nearly to impossible to catch up, but I do try my best. I reach the other end of the wall and push myself as fast as possible. Hearing the whistle ring, I know someone has already made it. I push myself on until I reach the other end and take a deep breath. I take off my goggles and look up at the girls. Georgia is looking at me angrily while Jazzily is smirking. Georgia storms off to the coach as I get out of the pool. I go to the benches and wrap a towel around myself. As I turn, Jazzily bumps her shoulder against mine and I turn around as she looks back at me. "Nice going, Mutt."
