Chapter 46 Maya’s POV Maybe I shouldn’t have reacted that way. I mean, I was already leaving. There was no reason to go all out and fight her. But what was I supposed to do when she launched at me? Stand there and let her do as she pleased? The street in me wouldn’t let that happen. I looked up, and the clouds were gathering dark, swollen things that looked like they’d been waiting all day to ruin what was left of my peace. “f**k! Not todayyy…” I muttered. As if my luck wasn’t already terrible enough, now it was about to rain. I clutched my bag, the one with the cheque, tighter and dragged my box along the tiled road. It bumped and rattled behind me, one wheel squeaking louder than the others, like it was complaining too. I was too upset and had too much pride to ask for a lift.
