My heart nearly burst out of my chest. The whole hut shook like someone had kicked it, and before I could even breathe, something slammed into me.
“What the hell?!” I screamed, scrambling backward so fast I nearly toppled into the crooked wall of fronds. My hand shot for the stick I’d been using earlier, and I swung it as hard as possible.
