AURELIA “Wait,” Theron’s voice sounded after me as I marched out of the hospital. “Aurelia,” he finally caught hold of my wrist, pulling me to a stop. My eyes moved to my wrist, where our hands connected. “Let go of me,” I gritted my teeth. “If I let go of you, you are just going to walk away.” “Shouldn’t that tell you that I don't want to speak with me? Why are you forcing things?” I raised my brows. He hesitated. “You need to have a checkup, Aurelia.” “It’s my body. Whether I have a checkup or not is none of your business,” I pulled my wrist out of his grip. “Don’t…ever do this again.” “You know, don’t you?” I halted. “What?” Theron moved to my front. “You know about Mireya and me. Did she tell you?” “Should she not have?” I raised my brows. Theron stayed silent, staring at me. A slight scoff left my lips. Even after finding out, he had no remorse. All he did was stand there and stare at me like it was my fault for finding out. That’s who they were. Snakes. I walked past him, bumping into him slightly as I walked away, but his voice came again. “Aurelia,” he muttered. I shouldn’t stop. Willing myself to walk away was the best thing I could do, but sincerely, at the corner of my mind, I felt it would not be a totally bad idea to walk back to him and give him a dirty slap. I turned sharply, my hand raised, but Theron wasn’t standing. He was kneeling. I blinked. “What…what are you doing?” “I’m sorry…” his voice broke. “I should never have done that, I should never have agreed to dating—” “You are doing this so that I won't tell anyone, right?” In my past life, he had suddenly accepted to marry me just to keep Mireya out of trouble. As a result, everything had dumped on me worse than before. This time, he was the same. Still a scumbag. “What are you saying?” He asked. “This is not going to stop anything, Theron. Good, now that you know that I know about this, just go clean to your parents and mine, because nothing is working between us anymore.” “Heiress!” Tony’s voice sounded from a distance, and I turned, just in time for his bike to stop in front of me. His eyes moved between Theron and me for a second. “Are you hopping on or nah?” I grabbed the helmet from him and placed it on my head before climbing on. Tony revved the machine a few times before he sped out of the hospital. I turned slightly, and Mireya was helping Theron up from the ground. Did he really think I could fall for some cheap tricks like that? Could he think again and think some more a million times? ~~ Tony dropped a chilled drink in front of me, before he sat on the seat. “You probably haven’t drunk anything from the convenience store before, have you?” He raised his brows. “Hales Food produces drinks like this. And there are no convenience stores in my estate.” “Worse, is that you probably haven’t walked on foot anywhere,” he smirked. “What kind of life did you live in the last years that made you have all these experiences?” He chuckled slightly, sipping his drink. Good, he had successfully avoided that question. I sighed, picking my own can. “The great Theron Draix kneeling in front of you, care to share what led to that pleasant sight?” He asked. “It’s unpleasant for me,” I rolled my eyes. Tony sighed. “You liked Theron so much in the past. Shockingly, you want nothing to do with him now.” “Even if I did, he was increasingly becoming unpleasant every single day,” I fisted my hands. The thought of telling him to help me in the elevator pinched me painfully. But what exactly had happened in the elevator? Why exactly had it suddenly gone bad that way? I knew things happened, but not something like this. Mom and Dad placed too much priority and effort in the company for this kind of hazard to occur. About that, how could they not have called me yet? I placed my hand on my dress just to realize my phone was not with me. My bag too? Had I been left in the hospital? “I’m pretty sure your things are in the office. I called a lot of times,” Tony said. “So how did you know I was in the hospital? This hospital?” “It’s on the internet, Heiress. A video of you being rescued from the elevator,” Tony pulled his phone out, playing the video on it. In the video, Theron was rushing out of the hospital with me in his arms, his face twisted in worry. This was just for the camera. Is this truly how far he would go to look like the good guy in everyone’s books? Why? What on earth was he trying to get from this? A flawless reputation— “Heiress, you are about to ruin my phone,” Tony said beside me. That was when I realized how tightly my fingers were wrapped around his phone. I released them immediately, handing his phone back to him. “I have to go home,” I said, standing up, dropping the can. “Why?” Tony asked. “Is there trouble?” “This is on the internet, that is trouble enough. I just resumed work, and now, they are plotting my death. This could affect Hales Food.” Tony threw his finished can in the garbage bin and pocketed his hands. “What exactly are you worried about, heiress? The fact that Hales Food is going to be criticized or the fact that someone is trying to kill you?” I gulped, fisting my hands. Tony’s eyes didn’t move a bit from mine. He arched his brow even higher. “Answer me.” “I’m in a war, Tony,” I whispered. ‘And the fight is for Hales Food. I've lost my life doing nothing. This time around, I would rather lose it while doing something.” “Does the win include Theron?” “What?” I raised my brow. “Does it include Theron as a package? Your fight.” “No,” I replied. “Fine,” a smile crossed his lips as he handed the helmet to me. “Risk your life in the fight for Hales Food. I’ll risk my own life protecting you.”
