Picnic Tease
The next day, the family decided to have a big picnic down by the edge of the lake. The weather was bright and warm, with a soft breeze blowing across the water. Everyone seemed excited to spend the afternoon outside. The uncles spread large, colorful blankets across the green grass, and the cousins carried heavy coolers full of cold drinks and food down from the main house. Someone turned on a portable speaker, and lively music began to fill the air while the younger kids ran around chasing a soccer ball.
From the outside, it looked like a perfect, relaxing family day. But for me, it was pure torture. Kai and I were playing a very dangerous game, and the stakes were getting higher every single hour.
