Mason put the food away, and before her mother could tell her to help Scarlett with the dishes, she walked out of the kitchen with her head high, so f*****g done. She went into her room and shut the door, knowing all eyes were on her. She didn’t bother sharing any of her good news—about school, a job. She certainly wasn’t about to share anything about Justin. No, that ship had sailed, and her family couldn’t and wouldn’t, she was convinced, ever share in her happiness. What was she going to do?
