Chapter Sixteen It was dark when Mason pulled down the driveway to the house, seeing every light on and what looked like another car or two parked in front. Who was visiting? She didn’t really give it a lot of thought, as her face was still tight from where she’d parked the truck at the top of the ridge where Justin had taken her that first date. It had been private, so she had cried for an hour with no one around to hear her. Still, after the tears had dried up, her eyes still burned. Her face was likely a mess, since Mason had never been one of those neat criers—not that she cried much. She brushed things off more than she let them get to her, or so she liked to tell herself. Except today had been a giant roller coaster of emotion, going into one of the worst nightmares magnified times
