Kiara's POV:
The moment my eyes opened, the terrible feeling all over my body registered. I felt like I had been ran over by a truck.
Pain. In every inch of my, even down to my f*****g toes. Everywhere ached like I had taken a beaten by a group of trolls with spiked clubs. A cold draft blew over me, making me realise that I was still very naked.
I was naked. Lying on the floor.
The realization slammed into me like a tidal wave. I sat up in a haste, only to immediately regret it. The room spun and my brains sloshed around in my skull. I doubled over, my head aching and nausea building in my throat.
Between my legs was sore. Very sore. Like someone had rammed a massive club up my womb.
I didn't imagine it. Nor was it a nightmare. The pain in my body was too real for it to be a nightmare. It was supposed to be just a bite. How did it all go wrong?!
"You're finally awake." A grumpy voice said.
My face burned with embarrassment as I recognized that voice. I slowly raised my head, and surely there he was standing before me. At least now he's in his human form. My arms instinctively came up and covered my chest. I hissed softly as my arm brushed my sensitive n*****s.
"Good morning to you too."
"The f**k are you doing here?"
I rolled my eyes. Heck, even that hurt. "Seriously? What am I doing here? Can't you f*****g guess?" I snapped. Right now I just wasn't in the mood for his snark.
"Hey watch your mouth. " He sighed heavily and brushed some hair back from his eyes. "I told you not to come here again."
I rolled my eyes again.
"Stop f*****g doing that and start talking."
"So you don't remember....of course you f*****g don't."
"All I remember is that my beast took over and—"
He trailed off. Then his eyes tracked down my face to my neck, and down my chest. I tried to scoot in closer on myself, hide as much of myself as I could from his eyes. When his eyes met mine, his were wide and full of horror. Realization flashed in his eyes and he stumbled back.
"Did I f**k you?" He asked bluntly. His eyes darkened.
I had half the mind left to be embarrassed at his crass tone when just hours ago he was stirring up my guts. I nodded stiffly. "Yes."
He let out a shuddering breath, one hand clamping around his mouth on shock. His face paled, and he took a step closer to me only to take two back.
"Did I hurt you last night?"
I blinked in shock. "Huh?"
"Answer me! Did I hurt you?!"
"Wow, that's very surprising. I'm fine." I did a mental scan. "At least I think I am. Nothing serious, everywhere just...hurts."
He brushed his palms over his face and inhaled shakily. "I'm sorry about that, the pain I mean."
I stared at him. Was this the same man who hadn't a single streak of manners? He's sorry? I didn't have anything to say to that.
"I didn't expect you to return after...fuck. it was yesterday you left!"
"Don't yell at me, it's not my fault. And just so you know, I'm only here because your brother came begging for my help. Oh and to be fair, I'm also only here because he offered me something in exchange for my help. So yeah."
A certain calm came upon his features. The air between us shifted and I felt something move. He straightened up and his face became a mask.
"In that case, I hope you get your compensation as soon as possible and be out of my hair for good."
My jaw dropped to my knees. What a prick. Like whatever happened was a simple transaction. Like I was a....
I closed my eyes, blocking the image of his infuriating face and inhaled. For a few seconds, I did some deep breathing exercises. All I have to do is ignore his terribly caveman attitude. I don't blame him at all. After all, my revenge is back on track. That's all that matters to me right now.
I opened my eyes and shot him a glare. "Fine."
He opened his mouth to reply, but then the door clicked open. Alex walked in, his gaze moving between both of us.
"Good morning. Let's get you both cleaned up."
I reserved the cuss words I had on the tip of my tongue for him.
Fifteen minutes later, the three of us were in a room. I hugged a blanket closer to my chest and glared at Alex.
"How are you feeling?" He asked me first, a small tense smile on his face. "Judging from the state of your body, I'm assuming you two had s*x this time."
My fave burned. "That wasn't sex." I grumbled. It was something else. Something primal. And I honestly didn't want to think about it right now.
"Alex," The king called, his voice dark with anger. Alex spun around and faced him.
"Yes, your majesty?"
"After all we talked about, you forced another woman to be taken by my beast. Have you finally lost it?"
Alex shook his head. "I assure you, Kiara agreed to this wholeheartedly."
The king snapped his eyes in my direction. I pointedly looked at Alex. "You told me it'd only be a bite."
"Yes. That is what I thought too."
The king let out a heavy sigh. He grumbled something in an unknown language to himself. He looked up at me. It was so sudden that I flinched. "In that case, I'm rejecting her. You promised her compensation? Settle her immediately so she can be on her way."
"No, no," Alex rushed up in front of him and raised his hands. "Not so fast now, your majesty. You cannot do that."
A pulse ran through the air. Alex stiffened. My breath caught in my throat.
"One moment!" Alex retrieved a brown envelope and handed it over to the king. "This is the deal I made with Kiara last night on your behalf. The terms of the contract are stated."
The king glanced through it and turned his gaze to Alex. "You made a contract?"
"Yes, your majesty. I had to. It was the best line of action."
The king tossed the contract away. "I have no interest in this s**t. It all sounds too f*****g stressful."
I bit my lip hard so I wouldn't say something that'll get me in trouble.
Alex calmly picked the papers up and arranged them. "It's been signed already."
"Why don't you just pay her? You, how much do you want?"
"I don't want money," I replied.
He huffed. "Liar. Alex, pay her. I'm severing this bond right now."
My mouth opened and closed like a fish out of water. Against my better judgement, I glanced over at Alex.
"Your majesty, you cannot sever the bond now. If you do, you'll revert to your beast form again. Isn't that more stressful ?"
"I don't care."
"You do. It's easier to remain bonded to Kiara."
The king rose to his feet and stared Alex down. "Are you telling me what to do?"
"No, sir. I'm merely suggesting a solution to you. At least until we get to the root of your curse, let Kiara stay, and let the bond stay.”
