20: apology unaccepted

1544 Words
Kiara's POV: She pointed a perfectly manicured finger at me in accusation. "You, what did you do huh? Because I know that my boyfriend will not mark you even in a million years " In that moment, she reminded me of a villain from a high school magical girl TV show. A rich, spoiled, snobby villain. "Answer me!" She demanded, her anger rising on her face. "What did you do that made him mark you?" I stared up at the ceiling, as if doing so would teleport me away from here. I seriously did not die and get reborn for this s**t. Did I ask for any of this? Especially this stupid ass mark. “Why don't you ask your boyfriend and leave me the f**k alone?” I lowered my head and shot her a glare. She gawked at me. Full on jaw dropped and eyes wider than the moon. “Excuse me?! How dare you speak to the future Luna in such a manner?! Have you no respect?!” I was about to leave then I spun on my heel towards her. “is that so?” “Yes! So you better apologise right now and—” “In that case, you should be grateful towards me instead of asking me stupid questions. Because without me, oh dear Luna, your boyfriend would have still remained a mindless beast to this day. And I'm sure as hell you would not want to be married to a literal beast.” Her mouth opened and closed like a fish out of an aquarium. The apples of her cheeks turned bright red, brighter than her creamed blush. Anger washed over her features and she glared at me like I had commited a grave sin. It only made me laugh. Over her shoulder, the king watched us with a disinterested look on his face. “You little…” “Did I lie, Luna? If only you were around then you would have seen how your—” “Kiara, that's enough out of you.” the king spoke, cutting me off. “watch how you speak to my fiancée, I will not tolerate your disrespect.” The woman latched onto his side, pressing her breasts into his bicep. “Send her away, my love, please. She can't possibly stay here!” she cried like her world had ended. Honestly, the theatrics alone. Gosh. I want to bleach my eyes and ears. “I wasn't being disrespectful, your majesty, I was only stating the facts.” I said, jutting my chin out by an inch. I couldn't hide the sharp irritation in my tone, and I honestly didn't care at all. Just then, Alex walked in from a mystery room. He paused, his eyes sweeping over the situation in the living room. The woman turned her attention to him. “Alex darling, where did you find this woman?” The woman asked, looking me up and down with disdain colouring her eyes. “She's so rude. I've never met such a disrespectful person in my life.” I scoffed and rolled my eyes. “Wow. I should never have helped.” I said the last part, my gaze cutting over to Alex. He cleared his throat and avoided my eyes. “She's a friend of mine, Fiona. And she's quite polite on a good day.” Alex replied. Ah. She has a name. It doesn't suit her, if I'm being honest. I thought she'd be a Mirabella or a Kimberly. “How rude,” Fiona clicked her tongue. The absolute guts on her. She vanished the entire time and then returned to play mistress of the house. On a normal day, I wouldn't have given a s**t. But right now I am also living in said house, and I can't imagine dealing with this s**t every single day. Just kill me. “This conversation isn't over, Kiara.” The king said as he looped his arm around her waist. “we'll talk later.” I am not looking forward to any talk with him. Matter of fact, I don't even want to see him ever again. I watched as he took Fiona away. She leaned up and whispered something to him, excitement in her step as they walked away. What a loving couple. Once they were gone, I rounded on Alex. “Polite huh?” “That's…what I could come up with.” He said stiffly. “Did something happen between you guys?” Jared asked, looking between I and Alex with scrunched brows and eyes full of questions. “Nothing.” I said. “It's personal.” Alex said. Jared looked at us, then he shrugged and quietly walked out. I didn't want to be alone with Alex, so I also turned to head up the stairs. Suddenly, he grabbed my arm and pulled me back. “Let go,” I hissed through grit teeth. I tried to pry his hand off my wrist and that only made him hold on tighter. “Alex, I'm warning you,” “I will, but please hear me out first.” I let out a loud and vexed huff. “What do you want?” “I'm sorry, Kiara, I really am.” “Why bother with your apologies? It's obvious you don't mean any s**t you say to me. All you've done is lie and lie again.” He went silent for a few seconds, his eyes searching my face for what I couldn't name or place. “I had a feeling you'd reject my offer if I was being fully honest.” “Listen to yourself. So you admit to lying to and deceiving me? All for what, huh? Was that better? Was it?” Crickets. I sighed and yanked my arm back forcefully. “Apologies don't mean anything to me, Alex. After all, the deed is done and nothing can be changed.” It's not like I can get untucked. Ha. Wouldn't that be a sight. “Let me show you to your room then.” He said, attempting a smile. “I already have one,” “A batter one. You'll be here for a while and I want to make sure your stay is as stress-free as possible.” “Just send me on a vacation to…I dunno, The Maldives, maybe?” He shook his head sadly. “Unfortunately, that cannot happen. But, I can arrange for it later. After all this is settled, of course.” I rolled my eyes. “Sugar coated bullet. Don't think I've forgiven you.” “Wouldn't dream of it.” He said and gestured to the stairs. “Follow me?” I followed him to the new room. It was on the fourth floor, and the only occupied room on the floor. True to his words, it was an improvement from the previous room. It had a large flat screen TV, a balcony, a massive bed, a walk in closet and ensuite, and a fridge. Everything was themed in soft green and gold, and it looked like an expensive hotel suite. I checked out the walk in closet first. It was empty, but spacious enough. “I don't have any clothes.” “That's not an issue. I'll arrange for you to go shopping soon, or someone could do it for you if you like.” “And my revenge?” I faced him. “when can it start?” “As soon as possible, of course. His majesty will soon speak to you about it.” I looked around the room and nodded to myself. “Fair enough.” “Also, try not to get riled up by Fiona. She can be….intense.” I scoffed. “I wonder how those two met.” They seemed like polar opposites of each other. Oh well, they do say opposites attract after all. “She's infuriating. It's impossible not to get riled up by her.” “Yes she is. But we're immune to her tantrums and antics hv now, it's a lot easier than dealing with her. Trust me, I speak from experience.” his voice sounded really bitter. He walked over to the fridge and took out a can of coke. “Want one?” I took it from him. “Sure. You don't seem to like her though,” I took a sip of the chilled coke. Then I remembered I was starving and this would only make it worse. I took another sip. “I don't.” He said simply. It was on the tip of my tongue ask “why?”. Instead I sealed my lips and drank more of my coke. It's not my concern. I'm here for one thing and one thing only, and I will not undertake any side quests while I'm at it. Period. “I'll see you later.” Alex said and walked over to the door. I followed behind him, ready to shut it and lock it if need be. A step outside my room, he paused and turned to me. “again, allow me to say I'm sor—” “Goodnight Alex,” I said and slammed the door shut. It wasn't even night yet.
