Chapter 18: Clouds

I am conscious now but unaware where I am and afraid to open my eyes. I am afraid that we are not in the same heaven with my mum and dad, I am afraid that I am alone even in my afterlife. I slowly moved my fingers, I can feel the softness of the bed where I am lying and the faux fur blanket that covered me, I raised my right hand and the sunlight touches my skin. Suddenly, I heard someone opening he door. Wait? Am inside a room? Is there any room in heaven?

"Is anybody here?" I speak.

"You're awake, Lady! I must inform alpha." The voice said.

"Who are you? Where Am I?" I asked still eyes closed.

"My name is Demarkus, Lady. I will leave you in your room and take a good rest." He said and I heard him closing the door. He thought that I am still sleepy since I didn't open my eyes.

Where exactly am I? Am I not dead yet? But why do I feel like I am lying in clouds? I slowly open my eyes and discovered that I am inside a room lying in a king size bed. I was mesmerized by the pattern of this room, mint blue geometric 3D wall and ceiling. The floor is covered with navy blue carpet, there's a study table with a round purple chair, the left side is a 3D closet and a door to the bathroom, to right side of me is a small window to the view of a lake and flowers. I step out from the bed and was about to go to the bathroom when I heard a familiar voice talking outside. It's luke's voice so I quickly go to the door instead and open it. There I saw luke talking with demarkus, I quickly run to his side and touches him. He is real oh my god, I turned to look at his confused face. "Where are we, luke? how did you find me?" I asked

"We are in my rest house by the lake. I found you in the wood last night, you were unconscious. Glad that you fainted before crossing the border. Are you trying to escape, ari?" He said.

"Wait, What? are you kidding me? Why on earth am I going to escape in the middle of the night." I argue in a high pitch voice. He is just calm and demarkus slowly leave us there arguing.

"So tell me why on earth are you running so fast in the middle of the forest at that time of the night? Is that part of your exercise routine?" He angrily said.

"I sleep walked! I am running after my parents, I wanted to be with them but they left me in the forest. Suddenly, I felt so tired of indefinite running and due to insufficient oxygen I fell to the ground unconscious, I thought I was already dead but turned out that I just fainted. I hate dreaming, it's awful!" Tears started to fall from my cheeks which I am trying to control. I accepted the fact that I am not normal like the other girl around, I had dreams, nightmares and I learned to handle it since I was a kid. But sleep walking is new to me now! and how many miles did I run last night to reach the border? Clearly, I need to see a doctor again.

"It's not your fault." Luke muttered

"I know but can I atleast have a control over my body especially when I am sleeping. What if I crossed the border or ran into someone, my enemy. Seriously, I cant take this anymore." I said sobbing. Unexpectedly, luke hugged me from behind and whispered,"That's not going to happen, I will keep you safe. I can watch you to sleep and whenever you'll be having a bad dream I'll be there to hug you." I was stunned by his word. I dont know why every word coming from his mouth sounds so sincere to my ear. His melodious cracky voice is so good to hear. Ever since I arrived here in thunderwood, I felt safe and secure especially around luke, I found comfort in him. I had male schoolmates and friends but none of them catches my attention even how goodlooking they are, but this man is one of a kind. I can feel his muscular body from my back and it feels like an electricity is running through my whole body but I ignored it and pretended that he didn't have a single affect on me. I turned to face him and stared at his beautiful hazel eyes, I studied every angle of his face, suddenly, his hazel eyes turns to black and I was amused by it. He is so attractive, I dont understand why he fall for me so easily in a short period of time. Well, I have an extraordinary beautiful face and body but if face and body is the basis, he has been to other countries a lot of beautiful women and there's a lot of perfectly created female here. Most of all I am a human and a powerless creature compared to his kind. Well, If my instinct about his kind is right.

"I like it when your eyes changed color." I said to destruct my myself from my own thought.

"You are seeing things, ari. I think you're hungry." He said not admitting that he actually changes eye color. He doesnt have to hide it, I already have a hint that he is not a human. Well I am starting to be like mum, believing in a supernatural kind of thing.

"Get your hands off me, boy." I responded in an irritated voice. I get irritated when he is trying to lie about his real identity to me but if he is not ready to tell me then it's fine I'll investigate it myself but why do I even care. I rolled my eyes to my own thought, again.

We were about to go back to the mansion when luke's expression suddenly changed. He walked towards me in a hurry without saying a word. Meanwhile, four shirtless men including demarcus arrived. They are not talking but exchanging glances with each other. I am totally lost and unaware what is happening between them. Well, it's another sign to be added to my list of a wolf thing.

"Who are they?" I asked luke trying to catch his attention.

"Oh, my friends. You met demarcus earlier. These are Logan, Robin and Ardi." He said pointing to his friends while saying their name. They never look at me directly and didnt say a word but atleast they greeted me with a smile and I smiled back. I think they dont really like me to be there Alpha's girl but it wont be a problem since I also dont want to be an Alpha girl coz if what I have read in books was real then being an alpha's girl is a huge responsibilities. I am not afraid of responsibilities, I just dont see myself becoming a Luna, you know werewolves world is a sexist and I hate that. I have my own strength, my parents worked harder to make me a strong independent woman so I dont need any man to protect me or question my decision in life. In short I just wanna live a free life. Yeah, I am hiding from my enemy, running from one place to the other but I enjoyed it, I considered these as an adventure. I am not bragging but I can afford to live a luxury life even my parents is gone yet I m working to feed myself coz I love what I am doing and I dont want to spent my family's wealth for nonsense.

"I need to go back to the p--house to entertain an uninvited guest. I am so sorry but I need you to stay here for a while... Demarcus will be here with you." Luke said, he looked worried and tensed at the same time.

"Is that an order, Alpha luke? Coz if it is, then I want you to know that Im not following anyone's order. I'll go with you, just drop me off at bailey's house. End of discussion!" I said without even looking at him. Honestly, I was afraid that he'll get mad at me for not obeying him and he'll turn into a big wolf then bite me into pieces. But his reaction is the opposite of what I was thinking. He held my hand and whisper into my ears, "Never ever call me alpha, please. And dont be stubborn, I dont know how to live a life without you anymore." My heart softened with his words, his eyes that staring directly into mind made my heart melt. I dont even know what's happening to me, did he already has a control over my mind that he can even make me fall for his words? I dont have the guts to argue with him anymore, I suddenly feel worried, worried for him. Afraid that his guest will hurt him and I wont be able to see him again, I feel the tears falling from my eyes and I felt a stabbing pain on my chest, "Ouch!" I mumbled rubbing my chest.

"Hey, what is it? What did you feel?" He asked holding my face.

"I dont know! what are you? It hurts, as if someone stab me here" I almost shouted at his face pointing to my chest. I now understand that it's the effect of a mate bond. Since our eyes met for a millionth times, the bond is now starting to take an effect to both of us and just thinking of losing him hurts me so bad. He doesnt have an idea that I already know what he is, And I dont have a plan to tell him that. He is the one that should tell me about him, I'll wait for it. I'll wait till he gain the confidence to reveal to me his real identity.

I wiped away the tears on my face, I composed myself and tapped his shoulder since he's still standing in shocked.

"Hey, I am sorry for being stubborn earlier. Go to the mansion, dont let your guest wait for too long, I'll stay here till you came and pick me up. Be safe!" I was about to walk away when he grab my hand, "They're watching." I whispered glaring at the four men.

"Right, Um let's go guys! Demarcus, please keep her safe!" He said to his friends and his friends walked toward the car. He then turned to me and said "And you, I will miss you!" kissed on my forehead.

He jumped to the driver's seat and his friends is teasing him now. Seriously, from being so serious men to childlike one. Werewolves!

Demarcus approaches me with a smile."Alpha said you like vegetables, we brought you some. Want me to prepare your lunch?" He asked.

"No, I'll prepare it myself." I said and walked toward the house. Well, well...having a life controlled by someone else, the life that I never dream of...
