When he had reached home, he met Claire standing by the window while she pet a sleeping Jay. He nodded his head at her before he moved to the bedroom.
He was beyond tired. He felt Claire presence behind him but he chooses to ignore her. She would definitely pick a fight with him at the moment and he is tired for that at the moment. All he wants was to take a refreshing bath and then hit the bed.
Thank Goodness, the next day was Saturday. He would be able to go through his paperworks before the company party.
"Who dropped you off? Gabe?" She questioned trying to face but instead he turned to hanger and drape his suit jacket.
"I asked you a question Gabriel." She repeated. "Does it matters to know who dropped me off?" He crooked his brows.
He is still angry at her for getting a job without telling him. He was not going to stop her but at least she should have told him before she applied for the job again. He would never stoop that low to stop her from pursuing her dreams, he believes everyone is entitled to life their dreams.
"Yes, it matters Gabe. I need to know who you work or talk to. Because our lives are involved." She said back.
He smiled slowly, then he picked a hand towel before he turned to her completely. "Well, I guess so. But whosoever I work with or communicate with has nothing to do with Claire. And lastly, it was the boss's driver." He walked toward the bathroom after answering her.
He has more work to attend to than to argue with her. "Why will the boss favor you Gabe? Are you not telling me something?" She called out.
Gabriel chooses to ignore her at the heat of the moment and continued to do his business in the bathroom. Indeed it was confusing that the boss was favoring him but for what reasons?
Keeping that at the back of his mind, he moved to the couch, his new bed. After dusting down the couch, he kept his pillow and picked his laptop to go through the mistakes he was meant to amend.
Done with that, he pushed down his head on the bed and closed his eyes. Seeing that sleep doesn't have the intention to find their ways to his eyes, he opened his eyes and start to think how God had favor him.
He would never imagine what would have happened to him and his family at the moment if he had not gotten the job. He would have been devastated for days .
Seeing how hard Claire had worked, he decided to forgive her, after all, we all make mistakes. Without knowing, sleep came to him and he fell deep into asleep.
The morning came earlier than expected, he woke up to brush his teeth and headed to the garden. No one was awake yet in the house, after making sure he had watered the flowers, he picked his joggers and headed for a walk.
It has been long since he went for a walk and he needs it to keep his months off his worries. He came back to after an hour and came back to aroma of fresh baked bread.
He went inside and met Claire setting up the table. He kissed her on the forehead leaving her amazed by how fast he had forgiven her. "Good morning Gabe" She greeted.
"Morning honey. I am hungry." He replied, rubbing his tummy.
"I am coming. Let me get the bacon." She said before she heads into the kitchen to fetch the bacons from the fire rake.
He inhaled the aroma, smiling. "They smell amazing." He complimented.
"Thank you." She replied as she served him.
Daniel entered the room, sluggishly. "Morning dad, morning mom." He greeted taking a seat.
"Morning Champ" Gabriel called out before he continued to dig in his food.
After getting ready for the day, Gabriel offered to take the kids out to the playground. He loved doing that.
He waited for Dan to get ready before they set out, not forgetting to take a bag containing all the essentials things Jay might need at the park.
They walked hand in hand to the park. Settling down in the park, he sighted his one and only friend in the area. He moved to him with Jay in his chest. "Hey Man" Gabe greeted.
"Gabriel, I thought I won't be able to see you again." His friend, Eddy joked.
"No way I would abandon you Eddy. I have been busy with work." He replied and eddy smiled before he offered him a seat.
"Thank you." Gabriel said sitting.
"How are things at work?" Eddy asked interested.
"Well, you could say everything is going okay. I have made some achievements over there and I'm really happy to be working there." Gabe said with a huge smile plastered on his face.
"Really? I am really happy for you Gabriel. You really deserve to enjoy your life now, you have worked so hard for it."Eddy complimented.
"Thank you." They talked about things they had missed. Gabriel always finds peace in talking to Eddy and they hardly meet. Unless on days like today, when they both bring the kids to the park.
"Dan, get ready." Gabe shouted at Dan.
The sun was rising high in the sky and soon it will so hot. He watched as Dan said his goodbyes to his friends. "Are you really going?" Eddy asked.
"Yes Eddy, the sun is high in the sky and you know Jay might react to it." He informed packing the bag he had came with up.
"Yes, that's right." Eddy replied and waved him goodbye.
On their way home, Dan told him about things that had happened at school which Dan always do. "So the Spanish teacher quit? But why?" Gabe asked.
"I heard from the other kids that she has gotten a new and better job but some kids said it was because she got into a fight with principal." Dan explained.
"Oh, okay. I pray it is not the latter." He whispered as they entered the house.
Tired, he is but he had to act strong for his family.
