In this unfamiliar place, Ruby thought she wouldn’t be able to sleep. But maybe she was just exhausted because she fell asleep quickly that night.
The next morning…
Sunlight streamed through the window, warming her body. Ruby stretched, feeling lighter after two days of rest. She got up and started preparing for school.
With the Beaufort Group contract signed, Ruby’s status at the school rose. The principal could hardly contain his delight. At the morning assembly, he announced that Ruby would be promoted to the highest level, and Fiona was the first to applaud for her.
After the meeting, everyone gathered around Ruby to congratulate her, except for Klare, who didn’t look pleased.
"Who knows what tricks you used to get that contract? Let’s see how long you can keep smiling."
