Chapter 15: Time Is Valuable
(Evelyn's POV)
The sky hung low and threatening as I arrived at the Blackwood Healing Den early that morning. Dark clouds gathered overhead, promising rain that matched my mood perfectly. I'd barely stepped out of my car when I spotted them.
Alexander's sleek black SUV pulled up to the entrance. He emerged first, tall and commanding in his tailored suit, before circling around to open the passenger door. Harper stepped out, her delicate hand resting in his as she beamed up at him.
My stomach twisted into a familiar knot. Despite everything that had happened—despite Harper nearly killing Hazel Grant and her unborn pup by altering that prescription—here she was, smiling without a care in the world.
No repercussions. No consequences. Nothing.
