Halloween was tricky.
Jack would take the kids trick-or-treating while Ren stayed home to pass out treats. Charlotte and Simone were used to going out with Grammy and Jack. It was a surprisingly joyless evening of preparation.
Though they hadn’t heard any knocking since Alejandra’s visit, Ren didn’t feel good about staying home on his own. So he invited Sherry from the office, who loved Halloween but lived in a building where trick-or-treating was strictly forbidden, to come over and keep him company. She dressed as a corpse bride.
