I reached out to Zynda and held her hands. She sighed. "You cannot let him in here anymore. He can hurt you," she said.
I sighed. "I know. I just really hoped he was different than the rest of the guys I had ever met. I guess I was wrong," I said.
"One thing I am grateful for towards him is that he had helped me with my ex-boss and my ex. Because his business was trying to build a partnership with theirs and he denied it after finding out what had happened to me by him. He had recorded the evidence that my ex-boss admitted to doing all he had done to me," I said.
Zynda gasped. "He did that for you?" she asked. I nodded my head.
"Then, what's the matter with the both of you now? Why did he start saying those things to you? There must have been something that made him say such things," she asked.
"Um... it was because he kissed me and I ended up kissing him back. But I pushed him away when I came to my senses. I didn't do anything to prompt a kiss from him," I said, nervously.
She gasped. "You both kissed? Then, you two need to work out your differences. Maybe he is meant to be with you and these are just minor obstacles in the way," she said.
I shake my head no. "Why would someone like him be with someone like me? Do you see him? He is built like Adonis and I am just abused and weak. There is no way that he would want someone like me," I said.
There was a knock on the front door.
"Are you expecting another person?" Zynda asked, getting up.
I shake my head No.
Zynda opened the door and there stood Mr. McIntyre. He was just looking at me and it felt as if he was staring into my soul.
He enters. He walks close to me and I stand up.
"Why do you think I cannot want someone like you? You are not abused or weak at all," he asked. He looked at Zynda and she smiles at him.
I sighed. I move to go to the restroom and close the door. I locked the door.
Zynda knocked on the door and asked "Are you alright? Why did you lock yourself in the bathroom?"
"Is he still there? If he is, I am not saying anything," I said.
Zynda said "He left a while ago when you shut yourself in the bathroom."
I sighed. "How could he say that? He knows that he has more women that could be by his side and would be a better pick for him, then me. I am nothing compared to them. We are two different people from two different worlds," I said.
I heard Zynda stifle a sob and sigh. "Why won't you be honest with yourself? Or at least me? How do you feel about him? Are you in love with him? You can tell me," she asked.
I took a deep breath and said, "Yes, I fell in love with him after he protected me and said he would fight for me. You know that no guy has ever said or done that kind of thing for me before, so I don't know what to expect."
Zynda sighed. "Look, hon. I want the best for you and if that seems to be him, let it be. There may be ups and downs, but what relationship doesn't have any of those?" she said.
I took a deep breath and opened the door to step out. There, he stood. He was still there and heard what I said. Or rather, confessed.
"You told me he was gone! He heard that I loved him then?! Zynda, how could you?" I shouted.
"Don't get mad with her. I told her to do that. I wanted to know and I know you would not have told me the truth if I had been the one to ask you," he said.
I head to my kitchen, but there was a knock on my door. Rather a bang.
I walk to look through the peephole and see that same old man and lady from before, who was talking to Mr. McIntyre. With another young lady.
"Um.. I think these people are here for you, Mr. McIntyre. It was the same old man and woman from before that had been talking to you. This time, they have a younger woman with them," I said, shyly.
He grunted. "Give me one minute. Please," he said. He heads out the door and begins talking to them.
....
We hear the conversation through my door as the door did not shut all the way.
"What are you doing here in this woman's home? Didn't she resign?! So, why are you here?!" the old man shouted.
"Nobody told you anything of the sort. She still works for me and I don't understand why you both are here. And who the hell is this?" Mr. McIntyre said.
"This is your fiancee, sweetheart. Isn't she the most precious young lady you have ever seen?" the older woman said.
I gasped. I think he had heard me, because next thing I knew, the door was pushed open and in walked all four of them.
"Oh, did you hear our conversation, young lady?" the older man asked.
I shook my head in fear. "Um, no, sir. We didn't hear anything," I said, shyly.
I see Mr. McIntyre with his arms crossed over his chest.
The older woman looks at me and sighed. "Dear, my name is Rose McIntyre. I am Adrian's mother and this is Steven, his father. We didn't mean to come barging into your home, but we found out he was here and decided to bring his fiancee to meet him," she said.
I feel as if I want to faint. My legs are wobbling and I head to sit down.
"Are you okay?" Zynda asked me. She was worried and began rubbing my back gently.
I nodded.
"If you could please leave my home, I would be ever so thankful. It was truly nice to meet you. Oh, and Mr. McIntyre, congratulations on your engagement," I said softly.
I see Adrian just staring at me and he begins to leave after his family and fiancee does, but turns around and says, "I am not going to marry her. I am going to marry you. I mean that." He then turns away and leaves my home.
I place my hand on my heart and it is beating fast. What should I do?! He must be kidding!
....
What will unfold?!
