As Lucas's handsome face inched closer, Chloe couldn't help but close her eyes instinctively. The temperature in the room seemed to rise, the air thick with an unspoken tension. As their breaths intertwined, fragmented memories from five years ago—of that wild, reckless night—suddenly flashed through Chloe's mind. The moment those scenes exploded in her thoughts, Chloe's eyes flew open. She pressed her elbow against Lucas's chest, forcing him to back away. "Sorry, I…" Chloe faltered, unsure of what to say. Her heart was in turmoil, a chaotic storm she couldn't sort through. She couldn't understand why those long-buried memories had suddenly surfaced and attacked her so vividly. Lucas shook his head. "It's okay." When he turned away, his gaze dimmed with disappointment.
